also note OP, every truck is different. what'll fit on someone's truck might not fit on someone elses

a friend of mine just put 265/75r16's on his stock truck and they slightly rub the frame at lock

minute differences between trucks- suspension wear, slight imperfections/differences in steering angles, blah blah blah makes each truck unique.

Front spacer lifts ride harsh and can result in a broken lower shock eye.
They increase travel by the thickness of the spacer, but they don't increase the travel of the shock.
Your piston and valve body become the jounce snubber.

Run a lift that replaces the shocks, or moves the lower mounting point for the spring, which extends the shock and maintains the same upper travel limit on the piston.

I've run a front spacer lift on my old truck. A Nissan Frontier for over 10 years and no issues. Ill take my chances.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
The first set of wheels I ran right after I bought my truck new from the lot with 63 miles was Ultra type 164 with 4.25" back spacing and Wild Country TXR (Les Schwab brand) 265/75R16 on stock suspension and they rubbing only on the passenger side but at the top of the outer part of the mud flap at full lock. For some reason it didn't rub the driver side with my fat ass driving just the passenger side. It leads me to believe but I never really measured it that the tire size slightly differs from MFG to MFG even though the sizes are printed the same on the side walls.

Great post. IMO the above post should be in the Sticky.

I just hope this first lift doesn't lead to the dreaded Lift Obsession Disease. I ended up with 37"s on a Titan I owned and eventually sold it due to poor gas mileage.

I can kinda see the OP's point , in the sticky it wouldn't hurt to say " Largest tires on stock suspension , stock wheels "

This is the last time I read a 1 star thread. Good luck with your 2013 goals of proving everyone wrong on TW OP...

Bumped up the Star Rating just for you.

The Toytec Ironman lift looks pretty good for just $600

To be fair though, sticky does say 'depending on wheels'. :notsure:

The Ironman lift is a good lift, check out Sierra Expeditions for that same lift, not sure who has the better pricing.

Which is more accurate, it's the dimensions that matter, not the wheels themselves.

Wow, it's $200 more at Sierra.

The Ironman looks like the way to go. 2" susp lift for $600 that should clear the rub. Would rather not trim in case I ever decide to sell.

    Thanks

    Yeah , 16 , 17 or 18

" For 2005+ Tacomas: 265/70/17, 265/75/16 or 265/65/18, depending on what size wheels you have "

    18’ F150 SCREW LB 3.5 EcoBoost
    Bilstein 5100’s (x4), 275/65/20 Cooper XLT AT3’s
If you're buying parts anyway why not go the better route and pay an extra $100 (maybe) and just get some 5100's for the front? Then we all won't have to say we told you so...
