The tank is 21.1 gallons , if you fill up the spout that will obviously add volume

And there's where the 17 gallon confusion is coming from...

    17.6 Imperial Gallons.
    21.1 US Gallons
    80 Liters

Just a heads up about running your tank dry or extremely low. Your engine has no clue or care about the fuel level. However, the fuel pump does. It is cooled by the fuel going thru it. It is a high pressure electric motor inside the pump. This will cause pre-mature failure after awhile.

    Leetrees?
Those are the ones that grow on the east side of Catalina.

Fuel pump failures are a common problem on the GMT400 Chevy/GMC trucks.
It is not a common problem on Toyota.
GM dealerships blamed the customers for the failures of their defective pumps.
I did lose a fuel pump on an '88 Mercury. Also lost a water pump, AC compressor, 3 sets of brakes, and power steering pump... all in 60,000 miles.

I've put over 500,000 miles on Toyotas (and my wife has put 250,000 on her two Toyotas) and have never had a fuel pump failure.
We run it to the light all the time.

I never said Toyota pumps have a common problem. When you run your tank down to the light coming on has no effect on the pump since it still has fuel to pump. It is when you run them dry is where the problems come into play.

    * bump

Light came on for first time as I was driving on less than half a quarter tank. Drove home and then today another 10 miles or so before a 15 minute wait in a Costco gas line.

Thought for sure I'd get 19 gallons in but the pump clicked off @ barely 17 ... so it has a good reserve limit.

Doubt I'll ever find out how much as usually half tank down and I fill it pronto. Just had hectic schedule last week.

Ripping people off on quantity and price. Filled up 3 times lately at Costco for $1.849, $1.859, and $1.859.

$3.859 sucks. I mean $2.00 per gal. more. Please.

Sorry I over looked that. Still think the price was much higher than our local prices in 2013.

During that time I visited El Segundo each year and found gas prices mich higher along with real estate prices.
