Been reading around and found a few things that say you should have at least $10M saved up and you can retire comfortably at any age. Just invest wisely if you do it young!

Are you reading notes on napkins you've written to yourself? Never seen an article that says that's a realistic retirement goal for an average person. $10M would be nice, but you could realistically withdraw just interest at $300k/yr and not dent the portfolio value.

Each year I save 17% of AGI for retirement with the aim of retiring at 55.

Going to retire next year at 66 after 45 years of selling HiLux to Tacos. I can offer one word
of advice to you (I started way to late) 30 something's. Put your money in retail units. You have to start somewhere and a duplex will return more than a single unit. Just start. You will find one is a pain in the a$$, but after you get a few they pay for any problems and after a while you can make enough to build one a year.

I think it also had something to do with taking care of yourself after you're dead and a little something about keeping your family happy with inheritance :spy:

For me personally i'll be able to retire from the military, As far as it being a permanent retirement, i cant say. I'm prob gonna find something to do in the meantime while i collect benefits. I'm thinking going into law enforcement early(~21-22) so i can have 2 retirements.

I do think if i can keep it up, that i'll work in public service till they kick me out though.

Probably (hopefully) never, I may write a book, always wanted to.

I have several acres of land with a good size pond, a small garden, a couple of cows. I am staying busy. Looking at putting in 6 -8 foot berm in a back corner for my own shooting range.

Started way too late. The answer is likely "never". Don't be me, kids.

just did the math (ballpark math). I'm shooting for a larger cushoin than "normal", but i should hit my goal at about 65 with my current 401k, roth ira, and mutual funds. sonstantly looking at more and better options and strategies though, so i should be able to bump that age down 5-10 years between now and then.
