Hey guys, I am hoping that someone here may have information or may have encountered the same situation and can assist me with information! I am asking this for my brother and we have already exhausted so many other options and spent countless hours on the phone trying to figure this out so I thought I would give it a shot here!

So, my brother is Diabetic and has just turned 26 and been terminated from our parents health insurance plan, and now has to get his own policy. His work does not offer any health insurance so it would have to be a private plan. We thought it would be no big deal, but because of the pre-existing illness, there is not a single health insurance provider that will offer him a policy. Even the government medicaid (AHCCCS) will not offer him anything because he does not have children. He emailed the insurance commissioner to see what they said and got a useless response saying that he can get covered in January. Problem is...he needs insulin now and through the rest of the year. To pay outright, it would be $1600 a month not including the additional supplies needed to run the insulin pump.

If anyone has any information or ideas as to how I can help my brother, I would greatly appreciate it!!! We live in Arizona which is a non continuation policy state for regular insurance. If anyone has any knowledge of loopholes or a way in which he can get insured again, that information would mean the world to me. Thank you all in advance

    Sarah

does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.
Wal mart sells insulin at a very reasonable price, for example, walgreens and cvs sell novalin for $105 per bottle, walmart has it for $23, maybe you can cover it until he can get in on the affordable care act? Seems this is the reason for the act in the first place, insurance denying people that have prior conditions. Good luck.

Pre-existing limitations end Jan 2014. Thank God.

Until then, he's going to be off insurance and out of pocket for all those expenses.

Unconscionable, but that's life in America, the richest nation in the world, nowadays.

Unfortunately parents aren't really in a position tobhelp with that amount. They can help with some but not all.

It doesn't help that we aren't citizens either. Another reason we get denied for everything.

The only insulin he can use now is novalog. Do you know if they have that there? He tried the generic humalog and his body doesn't react to it. Thanks for your help! Yes it is much needed, but I think it is rediculous that the people that need insurance can't get it at the moment. Seems a bit backwards to me. Thanks again, I will be going to Walmart to check shortly.
