Spending way too much money and not enough time on the motorcycles.

Toying around with the idea of either a Tundra in a year or two or just sacrifice some towing ability and turn the black Tacoma into the Marty McFly build I've dreamed of. I really do enjoy the hell out of the Tacoma, don't care about mileage. Only benefit is towing.

How's silver lake been for ya this year?

Went to da UP for a fall color tour. Found a good trail going up the Cliff Range so I took a nice poser shot.

Ok Rattler that pic of the UP is not fair. I really need to take some time to do that trip. We always want to but this year has been so crazy I really need to take the time to do a real trip.

Matt I would keep the Tacoma and make it what you want. You are going to loose to much money on another trade. If it really tows that poorly just buy a cheap dedicated tow rig.

I made it to silver lake a few times this year, even broke a quad out. Broke a motor mount perch first time out on the taco and ran it all summer that way so it time to fix now. It seems like I spent all summer working on Jeeps. Finished my buddies cherokee and then he destroyed front drivetrain and had to change all that. Another buddy trashed his Rubi's front axle. Now time to finish a bunch of things on my grand and it will be on its way to a capable enough trail rig. The list of vehicles we broke this year seems to keep rising and motivation to fix them keeps going down.

On another note if you know anyone looking for first gen parts I think I am going to make some pretty substancial changes to the truck this winter. Might finally be time to go full LT and make the Taco a dune truck.

That was our 4th trip up there this year. I should just move there. I could easily kill a month just wandering around looking at things.

So some of you have seen this, but i've learned that the current springs+aal have a carrying capacity ~2000lbs

    (80 cement blocks @ 23lbs/block) plus toolbox/pallets/etc

Other than the springs almost maxed, the truck handled it like a champ: brakes were great, no clutch issues, etc

That is also without the overload in the spring pack. So its pretty impressive. That spring pack has had a pretty tough life, but still works like a champ it sounds like.

Thinking a shell for the bed. Leer 180? Not sure. Anything suspension I'm waiting to wear stock out more. And larger tires will wait also.

And holy crap Jay...you really put those springs to the test!

My biggest issue with caps is visibility. I understand some caps have super big windows but its still far more limiting than without the cap. So I only use mine when I absolutely need it and then take it right back off

PS. I love seeing that 100% rust free frame every time I look at that spring photo ;)

I had a cap on my old truck and I hated having it on there. Since having the Taco with the RTT and spare carrier on it blocking everything, I am so used to it that it doesn't bother me. It is weird now because neither of them are on it!

The visibility part sucks but then again I grew up driving hatch backs so I'm pretty used to it. My only curiosity with it is how much weight does it add? And do I have enough clearance in the rafters of the garage to lift it straight up with a winch system when I don't want to use it.

Still alive and kicking so not to bad. Work has been crazy all year so I haven't had time for much. Have made alittle time to wheel jsut not much time for truck mods and much needed upkeep.
