    I bought my first house in '05, worst possible time, but I didn't know that then. If you add in labor costs, I probably put in $30k+ in to the house. I sold it for $5k less than I bought it. The only thing that made it worth while was I got in my new house with a 3.6% loan.

    One of the pluses for my generation is that I bought at a great time and never saw the need to move to a larger, better?, home.

    I did look at moving about 15 years ago but for an extra $1500 a month on a mortgage payment all I got was a newer home. Not much of a size increase and the neighbors were still just as close.

    In the long haul it is better to fix up or modify your existing home to meet your more modern needs.

    It was one of the last practices and the kids were rather ornery. They wanted me to jump in on the one drill because they wanted to go 1 on 1. I beat the one kid and he slide tackled me from behind. I'm lucky it wasn't much worse. He just didn't know when to give up.

    I have found that all states have some scenic beauty to offer. Yes even NJ and CT. You just have to open your eyes to see it.
