Yup...and aft market CV s won't work becoise of the spline count, must use OEM
Two methods..cut the shaft near the star and stick that sucker into a 50ton press to break the c-clip or another method is using a steel tube and slamming it to the ground repeatedly. Both are sucky to do. You can find videos on YouTube. Search how to remove birfield I think.

Edit: using the press method is scary and its freaking LOUD when the clip breaks..lots of energy being released in a milisecond so watch out in case the star goes on a ballistic course across the shop like mine did..

Damn! I only have a 20 ton press at the shop. This doesn't sound like fun.

To be honest, I almost didn't order the axles and was planning on running in 2WD for a little bit until I figured it out. Decided to just go for it anyway and try my luck.

You would still need the outer bell in place through the spindle/bearing if you run 2wd or catastrophic failure will happen fast. I carry one as a spare in case I blow a CV or twist a shaft on the trail

What causes the failure? How is it different from a 2WD? Different bearing, not seated correctly?

The outer cv keeps the wheel bearing pressed together..without it the bearing will fail and grenade

Ahh makes sense now. So either with/without the axles, the stock shafts need to come apart.

Another question I have is regarding springs. I have a set of brand new 14" 700# Icon springs. Can these be used on an 8" King shock, or do I have to run 16" springs? I only ask because I'm not entirely sure King has a 700# 16" in stock. Could I use it and preload the coilovers?

EDIT: disregard the above question. Answered in the LT thread.

Unboxed the kit...holy hell do they use packing paper! Glad they like their kits to survive even the most careless UPS guy.
