i'm kinda feelin this too.... as much as I would LOVE to do a nationwide meet in CO or somewhere... the drive out and back alone would triple the amount of time i would have to take off of work and probably the same if not more for the cost of the whole thing.... kinda makes it soooo much harder

I would love for it to be here in Texas but no place comes to mind right away. I think mostly because I have lived here my whole life and a lot of places just don't appeal much anymore.

I think June in Rapid City, SD could be a good place and time. There is Mount Rushmore, Badlands National Park, Black Hills National Forest, Wind Cave National Park and Custer State Park. All of those are within a short drive from Rapid City.
I have never been here but think there would be plenty to do for everyone and with all of the national parks there is bound to be plenty of facilites for everyone.
If we can get enough support I would be more than happy to help put this together.

This would be a good occasion to drive out to Big Bend Ranch State Park.

I forgot about that place. There are several places to go in that area of the state. Davis Mountains are just north of there as well as Carlsbed Caverns.

Yeah, there'd also be plenty for 2WD to do there. Lots of scenery.

Definately think a nationwide meet wouldn't work. seems like the majority of this board are east and west coast, plus texas.

i think there would be much more turnout with two meets, one eastern and one western.

for eastern, i think it should be in the northern part of the south, somethink like NC, TN, KY. You know, so us Yanks that come dont have to deal with people from the deep south. Plus it would be closer for us Yanks too. (basically, I dont want to see none of that Deliverance shit.)

for western...idk, figure it out yourselves :p somewhere between the coast and TX maybe? hell, TX folks could pick between east and west probably.

Maybe alternate every year? one year have east and west meet, one year have national meet.

idk, im just making this up as i go.

GIve me a reason to finally drive out to South Dakota and visit a state i've wanted to go to also, that would be a fairly good drive for anyone on here except the few in or around SD. SO there will not be about half driving close and the other half driving very far. About 80-90 would have a good drive ahead of them

I think the whole point of this discussion is to find somewhere that everyone can attend. There are already a lot of regional meets - this is supposed to be a whole big shebang kind of thing.

The middle of the country would be ideal for many of us coasters. Plus it would be an opportunity to see places that we've never been before.

Maybe a place like Tennessee would be OK, but to make it fair, I want Dark Knight to meet me halfway between and then we caravan back.

I was thinking TN as well, but I also like the idea of having two meets.

a national meet would be a lot of fun and would be awesome for those that can make it but a lot of people probably aren't going to be able to take a 5-6 day vacation for a 2 day meet

i guess it shouldn't be canceled for that reason alone... but the turnout isn't going to be as "national" as you would hope it to be

I realize that but I think what tigerfan is going for here is a national thing. Like I said, there are a lot of meetups that already occur and will continue to be scheduled.

What I think that needs to be considered here is - say there are two separate coast meet ups. One is in say, SoCal. Someone from Washington State would have equally as much trouble getting to the West Coast meetup as they would to a central location. Do you see what I mean?

Is there anything to stop people from flying in to the meet and renting a vehicle to drive for a few days. South Dakota is a bit a of a drive for me from PA, but I might fly in for a few days. Does anyone rent Tacomas?

Maybe a poll should be set up to get an idea. Some people will put in their .02 on a poll vs. posting.

you're seriously thinking about bringing a rental to a meet?

    wtf?
