So I have just put in 5100s with eibach springs and new top plates about 2 weeks ago. Rear I am running dakar leaf packs and a 1inch shakle..all is good love the ride...until yesterday I went to our local city fun spot to try out everything..

Lets just say at full drop I ran into a problem where my front axles will fall out of the housing..

    Will a diff drop help?

That's crazy! Are the bilsteins set at the lowest level with the eibachs? A diff drop is always a good idea on first gens

It just came out not all the way but enough that it destroyed my axle seal and lost allot of oil.

Something weird is going on. They definitely shouldn't do that. Post some pictures of your setup?

I don't understand how it happend Its the passenger side. Drivers side is fine. Truck is at a buddies shop getting a new seal and the axle put back on. Will get a picture when I get it back tomorrow.

Generally if the axle pulls out(which it won't if the suspension is setup properly), it just pulls the boot off and separates at the inner joint. They don't usually just pop out of the diff easily. Missing the C clip?

That's what happend the boot clip snapped on the outer boot and I'm guessing that it seperated and tore the inner seal to shit.

So went by the shop today to check in on my truck wanted to see how much the shocks compressed when the weight of the trucks was on all 4s and it only compressed about 1". I thought it would be allot more. Diff drop is going in hope it helps...

My 5100s are on the lowest setting have no clue why its making by cv pop out.

you should have limiting straps on and this won't happen.

You might have the spring seat upside down on the 5100's.

How the spring or perch is installed has no effect on the extended length of the shock. Unless you got the wrong shocks or put a thick top plater spacer in, the CV shaft should never pull out.

Are the CV shafts OEM or aftermarket? Aftermarket CVs have less misalignment travel than OEM Toyota CVs.

regardless of if you have a lift or not and if you actually wheel your truck you should have limiting straps on.You want your straps 1in shorter than your shock at full length.

Not true. With the Toyota IFS design, as long as you have the proper length shock and no stupid top mount spacer then the shock should limit the suspension down travel and there should be no need for a limit strap. Now if you have LT or are constantly hitting whoops where the shock is topping out a lot, a limit strap should be used.

They are aftermarket cv's I blew both boots about 3 weeks ago just before I added the lift.

^That explains things a bit. The 5100s are advertised to produce about 1" more droop travel than OEM shocks.

Is there away to tell if toytec sent me 2g 5100s instead of 1g.

what I got was 5100s with eibach springs and new top plates installed. Istallation was simple and went smooth.

Only thing I didn't do was install a diff drop.. didn't think I needed it and heard some people stories so didn't get one.. now iv got one. Is getting installed bu mechanic.. not that o can't do ot but my trucks already on the lift to put on a new axle seal.
