My dealer, and others (as indicated on their websites + phone calls) are still getting in 09s through the end of August, atleast. I have a deposit on an 09 thats not scheduled to arrive until August the 3rd and it wasn't ordered by the dealer until the very end of june. They have some on their websites on order that aren't arriving until August 18th and even later.

The owner of the dealership also told me september at the earliest for the 2010s and that from all the information they had gotten there weren't going to be any changes.

Also for what its worth the Tacoma prices around here increased around $1000 in the last two weeks, not the MSRP but the selling prices. There are a few dealers that are '1 price' dealerships. They put a price on the car/truck that is the bottom line and they don't haggle and there are no dealer or documentation fees. On the tacoma's the prices are on average about $4000-$5000 under MSRP. Two dealers told me Toyota raised the invoice and I looked online at a few of dealers who list their invoice on their website and the invoices have all increased. This could be a sign of no changes? idk.

Though I will say I have heard prices are going up suddenly all over because of the "cash for clunkers" deal because the government is really ripping off the dealerships. When a person does the deal and gets their 3500 - 4500$ tax credit the DEALER has to pay income taxes on the tax credit that the customer gets (i swear, cars.gov) and they have to do something to counter act this.

Weird. My dealer told me they were no longer taking orders for 2009s at the end of May. They had to locate mine, bring it to the lot and add my accessories to get exactly what I wanted.

If thats true, its a bummer that the rest of us buyers should be "punished" because of the cash for clunkers. My local dealership is a "best price policy" as well...though Im hoping to haggle when I go in to buy. Who knows.

I wonder if it's a regional thing. Meaning certain regions are supposed to run their old stock down before others or something.

Figured I would bump this back up. I fired off an email to Toyota hoping to get a reply with some info regarding the 2010 model. Slightly impatient I know...and skeptical that I will hear anything of value back.

That being said, Im still bouncing back and forth between just buying a new '09 or waiting for the '10. Im curious about the floating rumors about engine changes, etc. Id be dissapointed if I got impatient and purchased an 09 only to have the '10s come out a month later with desired improvements.

Who knows...Ill be curious to see what Toyota's reply will be...

I suspect the closing of NUMMI will slow down the release since Mexico was only about 30% of the completed truck capacity before. They mostly built the beds.

Toyota probably also will not change anything specification wise, but they will surely implement manufacturing changes that will save them money, like incorporating TSB's. They will never advertise these changes because that is like admitting the last year's model was flawed (which it always is, because they are never perfect).

As soon as a 2010 hits the lot I will go count leaf springs, try the stock radio, and see if it downshifts too often in low speed coasting turns.

I dont think there going to do anything with the leaf pack..... to much hassle and too much money.... its probably cheaper on them to do it this way.

With a new leaf pack you have to find a supplier, redesign it, and then put it back into production.

It is my understanding that the 4 leaf pack is already in production on the Canada models. I assume they are made in Mexico as well so they probably have 3 and 4 packs next to each other on the shelf. If they were going to change now would be the time. Otherwise don't hold your breath.

My 2009 Tacoma was built this past week (first full week of July). It's due in toward the end of the month.

Unless they're building 2009s at Nummi and 2010s in the Mexican plant, I'd say no normal-run 2010s are produced yet.
