I concur, but it's meaningless coming from me since I'm an Alabama fan and everybody assumes I worship the Bear.

'By default' just means that he's only the winningest coach b/c Paterno had so many wins stripped. IMO, most wins doesn't necessarily = best.

I was 6 years old when Rix became a starter, I think I was aware of Weinke but don't really remember it.

Rix, Weinke, Weatherford, Sexton, Winston, Manuel, Ponder, Ward, Kanell, Lee, Walker, Trickett, Coker, McGuire ummmm yeah that's all I got off the top of my head

Edit: Richardson played sparingly before he transferred to a D2 school in Alabama

I agree with this. At the end of Bowden's career he was terrible and running the program into the ground, however I can't wait to see him return to Doak for the first time since his retirement this Saturday. But I feel like each decade basically has it's own best coach. The 90s were Bowden and this current decade is Saban so far. Don't really know who I'd say for 2000-2009

Nah, they would have put up at least a FG against Bama.

Yeah.. Give back all of Bowden and Paterno's wins and Paterno would have the most, Bowden next, Bryant third. As it stands, I think it's Bowden, Bryant, Paterno.

Urban Meyer won two NCs b/w 2000-2009. So did Nick Saban.

But, Urban Meyer is a super douche, so he doesn't count.

FSU is included in that list of teams pulling starters and we still have the more impressive numbers.

And if coaches are pulling starters that usually means they're winning by 50 plus so I think they probably already got their numbers for the game so really that argument doesn't make sense.
