He does give the option to have angle iron added to the transmission and transfer skids for my rigidity. :notsure:

Weak ass design for the belly skid. Rest is good though.

So had the funniest thing happen while I was grocery shopping. Driving a long and boom. Cop lights are flashing me to pull over. I'm like...wtf? I'm not speeding..tags are good..used my blinkers..this outa be good.

    Hilarious.

Cop had run my plates. Turns out what comes back is a register 07 JEEP! Hahahahahahaha apparently Wyoming assigns the same number on the plate to different categories. Ran it again as a truck and all was good. Haha spent the next 10 mins BSing wi the cop about how awesome toyotas are and told him how funny it was it was a jeep that came back as I'd never own one ever hahahahahahaha

    So that's my night.

I don't follow your 1st gen stuff... I just came across that in the group buy thread, but I don't recall seeing that in the thread I posted.

What makes them so weak? They're 3/16, and you can get them in 1/4". Seem to have decent mounting points. Only flaw I can see is the rear skid could be stronger with some square tubing reaching up to the frame instead of bending the sheet to reach I guess.

That is really interesting... So there is a Jeep out there with the same plate number as you?

There is no crossmember. 1/4" or 3/16s plate as the crossmember with no gussets will just crumple.

    Good mall crawl skids tho..

    Haha I was just asking.

I don't know much about skids since I haven't seen any 1st gen ones in person.

Is it the gap between the cross-member of the lack of angle iron welded to it for reinforcement?

I don't think any of the big name skids from like Allpro and such have any angle iron bracing them. I could be mistaken though.

The only 3 transfer case skids I can think of are skid row, budbuilt, and AllPro.

    Budbuilt uses a crossmember.

Allpro is basically just a factory replacement.

Skid Row's design look exactly the same as his...

I see. I don't know the structural integrity of steel. That's what ME's are for :D

I don't see why it wouldn't hold up for casual-mild wheeling if it was 1/4". I would kill it, but I beat the shit out of my rig and bent my crossmember on my 1/4" skid already. haha

Yea I don't think he wheels. Even the bud builds bend and need reinforced. But the design he has is gonna either shear off the bolts as it flexes outwords. Or bed so bad it'll hit the drive shaft. Not gonna be pretty.

Yeah, depending on how much Budbuilt charges for shipping, they're only less than $100 more.
I have enough issues hitting my driveshaft as it is...
