    My lights fit when it was full depth.

    Then redid it and only made it 1" deep and now's there's more than enough room for the lights.

    Just to be clear on this, it isn't the ball joint that failed, tho it is still a good idea to replace with new.

    Most likely, one or two of the four mounting bolts fell out and the remaining bolts sheared when he turned. I've seen this happen first hand a few times now.

    This is preventable by checking the torque on the four mounting bolts on each side regularly. As Monte mentioned, loctite is a good idea for these bolts, especially if you wheel your truck.

    this is true..for some odd reason..

    never hurts to check though..I was on a trail with my good friend Jon..and his damn near imploded on us. Was missing 2 bolts on the passenger side and 1 on the driver and several where backed out.

    His is an 04..

    and he had gotten in on the LBJ recall..

    Jons mid trail on Shoshone..haha

    Not sure this can be relied on. The design is the same for all 6 lug 1st gens. Could easily happen on yours too if you ignore them. :eek:

    This is not something you want to happen anywhere but is especially scarey when you are in the middle of BFE where no tow truck is going to be able to get near you.

    I hate those damn lbj bolts. They loosened on me and messed up the threads on both spindles and only two on each side could be fixed and a longer bolt and nut for each one. I need to get another pair of spindles in the future :mad:
