Time to rekindle an old thread...

I have some anthracite derp on the way! Will be doing my newly acquired 17" sport wheels (thanks to griffin407c!!) as soon as the derp arrives! Been reading and searching for some tips, thanks for the thread!

Rekindle away! I've been going back and forth between plain old black and the anthracite derp. When you're done painting, can you snap a few pictures of the anthracite wheels please? Maybe even a picture of the anthracite wheel next to an unpainted wheel? Thanks!

Seen quite a few of the derp threads, this is the first one that makes me want to try it!

    Also, nice JTAC shout-out.

I did my chrome grill surround with 4 heavy coats. I had a stubborn bug splatter that wouldn't come off and I ripped a hole in it without much effort. I peeled it off. So for anyone saying you can scrub hard on this stuff is wrong. It ripped way too easy.

Should I have my tires mounted first so I get the overlap from the rim to the tire? They are apart now and I was going to start spraying them but I'll wait until they are mounted if that's the better way.

I did my rims with no tires. You can't see any place with no derp. When it was time for tires, the tire guys were careful mounting, and I suffered no scratches. It will be much easier to derp with no tires, barely any masking to do.

Dipped my wheels today. Anthracite. They came out awesome! The pics don't do them justice.

I masked the edge and just taped paper on. It went very easy. I did two coats both very heavy and I had no drips.

Those look awesome. What color is your truck? Can you tell me how close anthracite is to magnetic gray?

Nautical Blue Metallic!! These should look awesome on it! My buddy has an MGM when I see him I'll compare. It's more of satin in person. They are sick!

    Thanks

Awesome. I'm thinking of doing my chrome grill surround and chrome bumper in anthracite for a semi color matched look.

Removing and reinstalling the emblem on the centre-cap gives them a 'legit' look imo. Impressive job on the spraying!
