I saw it at least 1once a week if not 3 to 4 times a week, played with it like it was mine when buddy was out of town. Thing was lazy as hell though1 walk 50 yards and lay down.

Yeah that's sad man. I wish they lived as long as we did. Be glad he was in your hands and not some loser who treated him like shit. Take pride in the fact he was treated well as loved. I'm very glad I have this dog and I try to make everyday his best day. I'm grateful he went to me, there's a lot of bad homes out there he could have ended up at. He obviously thinks the world of me. I'll be lucky if I'm ever half the man he thinks I am.

yeah. when he was a puppy my buddy put him in one of the classes at pet smart and he did not like riding side a cab at all, so we usually tired it crate down in the bed and put him in that.(i all ways over tired it in, so it did not slide around or anything) would have put him inside but he HATED it so much, i’d open the back slider and we’d talk to him and he just sit or lay down in the crate in the bed of the truck.

All dogs have their quirks :p

Beau likes to jump into the front seat after we've been driving for a bit. To be up closer to me and be in front like a big man hahha! When I get home from work at lunch, he runs and jumps up on the couch and I go sit beside him. Often he breaks out into a full blown howl. Probably just out of sheer excitement and joy that I'm home.

Man's best friend is no exaggeration

See, it is all in the wording. I was curious about this so I actually did do some research and called to Denver police department. I spoke to a really nice lady who told me that that city ordinance only applies to people who live in the city limits, or are traveling into the city for the purpose of dog shows or sales, where a special permit is required to do so. I specifically mentioned "driving through town" on my way to a "friend's house" who lives in Nevada. (OK, I'm not REALLY going there, but for the purposes of my inquiry, I said such) She said that as long as I was not stopping for any business I could legally drive through town without violating the ordinance, because it "does not apply to travelers". She did mention that if I stopped in town for gas or to grab a bite to eat, and the dog was not on a leash, and was outside of the vehicle, that I would probably be stopped and at the least made aware that I could not stay. So no, your dog will not be taken from you if you are just "passing through" the city.

I wouldn't even chance it to be honest.

A lot of reputable breeders of purebred APBT/AST/SBT won't even let someone come and pick up their pup if they know you're even going anywhere remotely close to Denver. I don't blame them either, and I have read some stories where the law was exaggerated(overly enforced by ignorant cops) and dogs were confiscated for euthanization.

The thing is, people are not willing to fight the law enough I think. I guarantee you if a cop was going to confiscate my dog (assuming I had a Pitt) as I stopped for gas in Denver, and I had my Alabama plates, the news would get called and the damn state police would get called first. I do NOT just roll over because a cop just SAYS he has to do it. If you are being charged with a crime, or violating an ordinance, the police officer is required to notify you of the ordinance or law, and must be able to cite the statute. Otherwise a cop could pull anyone over and confiscate say, their cell phone because a "new ordinance" was passed stating that cell phones are not allowed to be in the front seat of a car, the whole time having no proof of it. Sure you could fight it out in court, but if you are traveling through the state on vacation or something, you would have to wait for a court date. I'm not rolling over for SHIT unless the cop can provide me PROOF in writing of the ordinance, and how I have violated it. I would make that cop have a REALLY bad day. I promise you that.

While I wholeheartedly agree and would at the drop of a dime fight your kind fight as well if I were in that situation....a little something called preemptive justice combined with misinterpretation/misrepresentation of the law(mainly on the enforcement's part) of breed specific legislation is what I fear more than anything(in pertaining to Denver's ordinance).

Anyone in the APBT world knows the story of Floyd Boudreaux, a purebred APBT breeder/dogman since the 1930's and the individual solely responsible for preserving the "Eli" APBT bloodline under his own Boudreaux name. Long story short, his whole yard was seized(roughly 60 dogs give or take) via PREEMPTIVE JUSTICE on suspicion of dog fighting on March 11, 2005....that same night the Louisiana SPCA began terminating every dog they had seized---yes before even found GUILTY.

In 2008, Floyd and his son were 100% acquitted of all charges due to zero evidence found of criminal activity, mainly nothing on the dogs themselves found that would point to fighting activity when they were seized. So what was left after Floyd was acquitted? Nothing but an empty yard and 60 wrongfully euthanized, well-bred dogs, and the end of the coveted Eli/Boudreaux bloodline. Preemptive justice does this kind of shit all the time, and it's a damn shame.

If you've got a little time, here's a FINE article by Colin Dayan(a known pitbull advocate and proffesor of humanities at Vanderbuilt Universities) touching on the major pit bull cases of the modern time highlighting the twisted relationship of corrupted ASPCA, Animal Services and breed specific legislation enforced via preemptive justice:

    http://bostonreview.net/dayan-dead-dogs

one of the most profound passages from the article:

Here's another interesting/sad article about the Denver pit bull killings:

    http://blogs.westword.com/latestword/2009/09/3497_dead_dogs_and_other_numbe.php

One interesting tidbit pulled from the article:

Notice it states Colorado(the whole state), and not just Denver. Damn shame.

Sometimes, what you can prove in court can come much too late(when the dogs are gone). With that said, you won't find ME driving in/near Colorado state lines with my APBT. Just me though.

I thought of this post when my buddies dog that I've known since he was a puppy 2 years ago was cuddling up on me right next to me after a night of fun, woke up to him licking me. My first thought was definitely not "bad dog!" Don't blame the breed blame the owner. Animals feed off your actions and surroundings. Aggressive dogs most likely had an aggressive lifestyle, a bad experience or could even be in pain. Pits are definitely more jumpy, they can go from sleep to play to ripping in minutes. ALWAYS take your time when meeting and playing with a pit.

Someone threw this dog out at my house today. I don't know if it might be a pit mix or what I doubt its full blooded. If it is I never saw one with a peppered chest color. I'm thinking it might belong to someone down the road. Very friendly pup fed it and bathed it , now it's laying on my bed lol. Bout the time I get attached its owner will prolly show up. What do ya'll think it is??? Any dog is mean if not raised right. Some just have a greater tendency to be aggressive without the proper training. Any dog can be a great and loving dog if raised the right way.
