very true... but socal wouldn't be a very central location for the west coast meet, it would be equally silly to have the east coast meet in florida

i think a national meet is a great idea and good luck to those planning it.... hopefully i get lucky enough with work to make it

but for the sake of getting as many TW members together as possible to meet and have a great time.... i think a east and west meet would be more conducive

how many attendees would make it worth setting up something national (and labeling it as such)???

OK, I am from KC but I am going to throw out some reasons why the general area is a good place for a meet.

2 good parks around here for wheeling. The Kansas Rocks park http://www.ksrockspark.com/ 90 minutes south from KC, and located near Pittsburgh, KS which is a great college town. Lots of places to stay, and a lot of wide open areas to camp and hotels very close.

The second place is around Manhattan, KS (KState University) another great college town and within 20 minutes of there is the Randolph ORV. Now this place is monster for gatherings, and some good wheeling as well. http://www.4x4wire.com/trail/report/ks/randolph/ good bike trails as well. There are tons of hotel rooms around Manhattan, KS, and lots of camping areas as well around Tuttle Creek lake.

The weather during October in Kansas is awesome. We take the chance of some rain like anywhere Central US would, but the temp would be excellent, average temp in October is 70. Good wheeling and camping weather. Someone mentioned ice storms in October in Kansas? No worries, I have lived in KC my whole 37 years and I have only seen one October Ice Storm and it was the very end of the month...

Something to think about, both these areas have ample rooms for people, and there are mass campgrounds around both areas. Plenty of bars and food very close to both places as well.

I do not have the time off to drive 1600 miles to a 3 day meet. So, yes, I would consider renting something to go to the meet. It is more about meeting people for me than looking at the trucks.

I would rent a H3 or something so everyone could tease me.

If he rents something, I'd gladly pay for the insurance so I could jump whatever he rents. :D

if it happens...id LIKE to see pets/children able to attend as well

    i like this idea

    yes

again...sure...it may be EASIER to do 2 meets

but that doesnt bring the west and east coast together to meet...and then it leaves those pesky texans trying to figure out which one they want to go to

not everyone is going to attend...but it would be at least somewhat planned out far enough in advance that those who want to can figure out how to take the time off/getting there etc

i know that tacoberfest didnt go as well as expected this past year in TN...but thats them

again...i think that theres a lot of folks on TW that are very close knit and many of us are willing to make the sacrifices to all manage to be in the same place at the same time

i frankly dont care if its 15 of us or 1500 of us

i want to see at least an attempt at a national meet

Well KS Rocks Park, is a Private club, meaning we would have to pay to wheel, and with a large group, Im sure they would want extra or a group Insurance policy, and from what I remember, it had limited trails, I hope they have grown since I was there, lol

Tuttle Creek, well its free, and I dont remember any good trails or obsticles, just a big open area, very close to the lake.

i definately think its a good idea to try

i'm interested to see how much of a "national" diversity we get

and i was suggesting the 2 meets not for the ease of it but to get as many people together as possible (which would probably make it harder)

A National meet is a great idea but it has to be in a national location (aka Not socal)! i vote for kansas and why are we doing it in october it is to close to tacoberfest. i vote for the spring 2010 that will give us ample time to find sponsers.

Have any polls been set up yet as far as a name/location/timeframe?

Once some details are definite, it'd be cool to work on a website like Tacoberfest. IMO
