Within the 1st 4000 miles, I noticed uneven tire wear on my right front tire outer edge. I live pretty far from the dealer, so I went to a local alignment shop and had it checked. They said it was only slightly out of specs. Shortly after I had my 1st service and they were rotated. It was noted on inspection list that one tire had less tread then others.

I'm now around 8300 miles and am scheduled to have new wheels put on this sat. When setting up the appointment, I noticed the wear again but on both front. These are the stock dueler ht tires and this vehicle does battle up and down 270 being a work vehicle making around 15-20 stops in a 4 to 6 hour period.

I got the wheels a few back and have been debating on getting new tires for them or using the stock. I had decided that I had lost enough money on tires and to use these. Plus it'll let me see how much room I have to work with, with the new offset/backspacing. Now I wondering if I should hold off and try to fight for a few new tires under warranty or if this is normal for my driving habits. I by no mean fly around, mpg reasons, but I do a lot of stop n go.

Anyone else have bad wear on stock duelers?

Our trucks come with terrible tires from the factory. I'd go with a new set and get it realigned.

I'd like to but can't justify throwing these away with not even 10k on them. With them being so crappy, its not likely that they would have any value selling. I average about 300 miles a week, so it's not like these will be on my truck for a very long time.

I think you have too much toe in. The alignment can be "in spec" but can be at the far end of the spec. In addition, the aligment machine can be out of calibration. My truck chewed up the outer edges of the Rugged Trails with only 300 miles on it from the factory. Took it to an alignment shop, and found too much toe in. The truck was realigned to "spec". The tires took longer to show feathering (about 900 miles later). I gave up, and did the alignment myself with jackstands, strings, and a lot of precise measuring. Tires have been wearing perfectly since.

On both my Tacomas the front tires have worn the outer edges first and the rears wore the center treads first. If they're rotated front to back it evens up pretty well.

X2 my Dunlops were the same way and those were only good for about 30K miles if that even with proper rotations. I'd say try and sell them locally and get some money out of them while you can.

My first Taco had brand new dunlops on it when I bought it at 28k miles. One of the originals had been put on the spare rim  and it was essentially a slick.

Thanks for the advise, I can't for the life of me find the alignment sheet, I continue to look when I get back later. I'd really like to get this sorted out before putting the wheels on either with these tires or others. If alignment problem, I'll just chew up a new set, so don't want that happening.

Just take it to a trusted name tire store or alignment shop that you know that will do a good job even if it costs you a little more money. Print out a proper Tacoma alignment sheet and take it with you just in case.....I'm pretty sure you can find something on TW for that.

That is normal for a truck. It is due to hard cornering or lack or rotation generally. You are about due for a rotation, every 5K for a truck.

Also keep your tire pressure at the most psi possible that the chalk test will allow.

    Found the alignment report,
    camber .4 .1
    toe -.5 -.5 total -.10

    before alignment
    camber .4 .1
    toe -.10 .25 total .15

    seems within specifications

Normal for a big truck? I've had many 4cyl trucks that didn't do this, 09 base didn't on stock or coopers at oversized, but Titan's goodyear sra had a similiar issue but worse. Have you had this happen on other brands also?

Outer edge wear ( both inner and outer edges ) is due to under inflation of the tires.

The Center wear is due to over inflation of the tires.

Not necessarily, fronts still wore the edges first at 51 psi

Yes, this is very common. Especially on softer compound tires. The SRA is a soft compound as well. Dueller has a soft compound as well. The heavier the vehicle the more common. Also check PSI.

What will likely happen is even with rotation at 5K intervals you will have this wear pattern on all four tires due to vehicle weight, suspension and tire compound. Dont worry about it, it is not cupping or belt separation.

Hey man I still roll in my factory Dunlops from 07. I got about another 7 years left in them. Lol what ails ya!

Don't waste a set of perfectly good tires bra. If you do let me know where you dump them at least.

That might be a world record for the oem dunflops. Have you gotten the 50 mph wheelspin on wet grooved pavement yet?

    I agree Jimmyh

OP, doorjamb pressure will usually cause this

Right front tire.... any parking ramps where you work? My sister used to always have three good tires with a bald front right thanks to a parking structure.

what do you mean, the pressure listed on door is too low or high? No parking ramps or struture, I'm a inspector and visit many homes a day, all over the md area.
