My one experience working in a union was not a good one, but I don't believe it's the norm.

I forget the name of it, but I worked at Shaw's supermarkets in the late 90's for about 2 years. Cost me $100 and then roughly an hour per week of my pay.

My issue was the 2 stewards at store level were both department managers. The higher level management (IE the big 3 managers, general/perishables/non-perishables) were not union. What would happen was the stewards would fight for things that benefitted them and other department managers, and say "IGAS" about the rank and file people like myself.

For instance: A decision was made to raise the starting wage. Those like myself making less than that were elevated to that wage. At first it wasn't bad to get a $1 an hour raise. Being told a week later I have to train a new hire off the street wasn't sitting well with me. Both the stewards said they would not do anything about it.

Several months later, the warehouse folks were not happy about something and all decided to not work on a holiday (Labor Day I think)..and asked all the store level folks to do the same and support their fellow union folk (that is the wording they used). My department manager and I got to talking about it and we both said that the union didn't look out for us little folk not long ago so we were not going to help them either.

That all said, unions do help even the average bear like me. When I get things like electrical work done on my home, union standards ensure me of getting quality and safety both in the performance of the job and the results of it after my electrician is done with the job. Works good by me.

I am sure you can get a aftermarket greasable replacement, i think your best bet would be to contact yotadan from wheelers, they sell bushings, they are very knowledgable and out of all the vendors they will probably be the first to answer your PMs. I did the rear bushings in my dakars and pushed them in with a C clamp and a big washer. That one bolt on the front of the springs is the only one that was seized when i did my leaf springs. I had to put a open ended wrench on the inside of the leafs and use the hillbilly impact method :D

Its not bad at all working on the rear end, jack up the truck nice and high and get the frame on jack stands, then put your floor jack on the axle so you can control the droop. Use common sense and its not dangerous at all, the front suspension is where it gets sketchy

Exactly! They aired the entire Boston Strong benefit concert free of charge, or streamed it rather, but Dane Cook was the only one of the people involved who wouldn't sign the waiver to let his stuff be aired for free. So the stream cut out for his act. His reasoning was he had new material (that be probably stole from someone else anyways) that he didn't want getting out before his tour.

Damn... that's a whole new level of butthurt

i dont know that that really makes him a douche. ultimately they were doing it to support the victims of the bombings, and people listening from home arent supporting victims by not going, so why should they air their stuff for free? if you want to hear it, and support the victims, get off your ass and go to the benefit :notsure:

People at home could still call in and donate or donate online. I would bet that they raised more money from people at home than the people at the concert.

My GF at the time had one of his CD's and wanted to go to the see him live. His act was the CD verbatim. I was sooo pissed. He didnt tell a single new joke.

Don't musicians do the same thing a lot when they play stuff that's off their CDs though?

I saw Jeff Dunham and it was 150% new shit.

Then I saw every damn joke verbatim in the standup special he put out a month later haha. But live with him was funny as hell because he plays the crowd and tells some raunchy jokes

My first job was Shaw's. RI isn't a right-to-work state, so I had to be a part of the union if I wanted to work there. I was always worried about the place going on strike. I probably would have quit right then rather than picket outside or become a scab lol
