Driving on snow..TRd OR/TRd Sport

Getting ready to buy a TRD sport, would like you guys opinion on how it will do in snow, does the ATRAC make a diffrence on Ice/Snow? Will The TRd OR do better? I dont plan on doing much offroading, just have to get to work when its slick. Please help, I dont want to get sick and buy wrong truck!

 

You should be fine.

 

They both will be fine. I had a sport and it handled well in ice and snow. I now have a 4x4 base. It does well too. As long as you have at least 4WD, you'll be fine.

 

I currently own an Access Cab TRD OR. Before this I owned a DCLB Sport. I found that they handled no different than one another on ice and snow. It all comes down to your driving habits and how you drive in those types of conditions. Most of the time I drive in 2wd. Unless it's really deep snow I'm in 4x4.

You can't go wrong with either vehicle.

 

Get 4x4 and it won't matter

 

I had zero issues last season, just using 4HI. I purchased a winter tire set up for this season, so I'm expecting performance to be even better.

The reason why I switched is I found my BFG ATs weren't particularly good at stopping in slippery situations.

 

ATRAC only works in 4wd low so it won't make a difference driving on roads anyway. Either Sport or Off Road will be fine for snowy roads. The big thing is just to have 4wd. Only time I ever go into 4 low or use the locker in the snow is pulling someone out of the ditch if they're really stuck.

 

Don't get 4x4 to drive in the rain like some people in Vancouver. BC probably do.

4x4 sport did better than expected in snow and hardpack with stock tires.

 

I was going to make fun of you but I don't know if you do use 4x4 in the rain in Vancouver or not.

We have me members here who do. I don't get it.

 

They must have drag flat tires on their trucks I guess. I wouldn't see another reason to use 4WD in the rain.

 

I'll use my 4x4 in the rain, but only if it's because I'm off road and loosing traction...does that count?

Not on the road

 

Both will do great.

The biggest consideration would be your tires.

I love the Goodyear Duratrac's. They are an All-terrain tire that is Snow Rated.
