I did something stupid. My 2005 Tacoma battery died this afternoon and I jumped it with my other car. I was in a super rush to get back to work and my gf and kids were waiting for me to get the truck running. Sooo, I might have put the black and red clamps from the jumpers on backwards...[IMG]. What I do know is that they got real hot and started to smoke. I removed them all, started over and paid attention to what I was doing this time and started the truck. Now the ABS and Brake light are always on. After work I bought a new battery and installed it but the ABS and Brakes are still on.

How deep did I dig myself in this time?

+2. Check all fuses. Does everything else work? IGN1 fuse is usually a good place to start.

I checked them last night and it looked good but it was a bit dark too. I will check them again after work. Brake fluid is full too.

Everything else seems to be working and it drives fine.

"look good" and "are good" are two different things. Make sure you use a multimeter just to be certain.

I had the same issue and I've done a lot of research and I've come to this conclusion. Mine gave a code 34 (left rear wheel speed sensor) so I bought on off Amazon for 92.00 installed it and cleared code but light stayed on. I looked further into it and found it mybe my abs actuator( 1400$) at dealership. So I looked around at other shops and my tuck is now at aamco having them put a used abs actuator for a little under half that price. I would have attempted it myself but my Haynes manual said to not attempt to. So I figured $600 was better then $1400
