In a rear wheel drive like a truck your theory is probably fine. Leave it in gear with the brake tight and it probably will only buck a bit and die. A front wheel drive car will take off even with the e brake set.

What you're about to try won't work because a remote start uses a rpm sensor to know what the engine is up to. It will start the engine using a clutch cancel. Basically the same as dropping the clutch if you are in gear. It knows to kill the starter when the rpm reaches a certain point. It will keep producing power indefinitely for 10 seconds until the starter kill is activated if the engine doesn't reach rpm.

Yeah I just wanted to test if even the engine at idle could overcome the brake. And I don't know the specifics on how a remote starter works but I assumed it didn't just keep cranking if it didn't start the engine and had some kind of safety to save the starter

I don't have that button. And I know dropping the clutch would kill it so I just wanna see if the engine at idle could overcome the e brake

You would have to test it right when your engine starts where it spikes to like 1500 rpm or something.
    1. Set brake tight
    2. Start engine
    3. Drop clutch immediately while giving it enough gas to hold that spiked rpm that the engine does when cold

The guy I posted before has remote start on his truck. He used to let it drive up obstacles by itself and just reach in the window occasionally to steer it. Lol

I have remote start too and it's awesome.

Ghost riding is retarded but at least he could kill it with the remote if it went south.

Ghost riding in combination with a slow race when you have crawl boxes/dual cases. Win. We used to do that too

This isn't really an accurate test anyway, cause the starter also has to break the engine loose at the same time it's trying to turn the whole driveline. We're getting way too into this haha, it's a hypothetical situation that in reality would never happen

He let the starter drive it up the obstacles?

Matt you are missing the concept of remote start. The starter only engages until the engine is running. Once the engine is running the starter is done. Remote start uses a clutch kill. Leave the truck in drive without setting the brake and the engine WILL drive the truck.

x2. The starter only stays on long enough to crank the engine. So
Sometimes it's not long enough when it's cold so it restarts itself. And sometimes mine spazzes and stays on extra long and turns off the engine lol

My truck sometimes does that vapor buildup thing in the intake if I restart it after about 20 minutes and the remote starter freaks out and keeps starting for 10 seconds. If it happens without using remote start I just have to stop turning the key and it will be fine the next key turn.

I know, it would act essentially like the clutch start cancel switch. So if you leave it in gear with the e brake on (like I do when I park currently) and hit that button, the starter is trying to turn the engine and driveline with the e brake engaged. I don't think it would get the engine to turn enough revolutions to fire. I also don't know how much protection is built into the remote start either, would it keep sending voltage to the starter if it wasn't physically turning?
