I have a projector retro housing now but I used to run with the stock halogen housing. I don't have shitty headlights im a very nice person ask anyone that has met me and I don't tell you how to do anything right or wrong on your truck so I don't understand why you think you have the right to tell anyone how to build thier truck "Do it right or don't do it at all" is not for you to decide.

This thread is about HIDs W/O projectors so im commenting on my experience when I head my stock housings on my tacoma with HIDs calling people names is not respectful and your offensive language towards me is uncalled for I was merely making a point. If the whole point of this thread was to call out people that posted on this thread about Tacoma owners without HID housing then this was a disrespectful way to do it. I posted on here because I used to have HIDs with my stock housing. I have not been on these forums long and I hate the way this is being handled by fellow forum members! Thank you for your time I hope to never meet people like you.

Funny....Cause most of us hope to never meet guys like you. The point the poster you are so offended by is making is that it is rude and dangerous to run HIDs without the supporting retrofit. It's also obvious from your comments spabout enjoying the fact people got out of your way and that "it's. It your fault they have low cars" that you don't care a out anyone than yourself.

If you don't want opinions that you don't like....You might not want to hang out on the internet.

I used to run my stock housing and I did not know any better and I joined this forum because the point of it was to talk about tacomas and help one another not call people names and make insulting remarks. Which is what I saw on the forums CoC which is clearly wrong because I have not seen this at all especially when a moderator see what a new member is going through for answering a thread instead of calling anyone that answers it an asshole or dick.

I was trolling to prove a point I was not serous and I will not try to do it again because it was taken seriously about people getting out of my way was merely me stating a random reason why someone would use the stock housing I was merely "trolling". However I have not tried to insult anyone or offend anyone however I received plenty and there is no call for it.

You are giving bad advice as a new guy. HIDs in halogen housing work...but they are distracting and a bad idea. Trying to justify them (even as funny trolling) will be poorly received and will get you a reputation on the board that has little to no impact or input from your real life.

Don't want people talking to you like they think you are a dick....Probably don't wanna make comments, even in jest, like the above.

The problem with our h4 bulb housing and HIDs is this:

The h4 bulb is designed to use the top half of the reflector (go stare at your headlight and look).

If you look at the internals of an h4 bulb, you'll see a plate blocking the light from reflecting downwards.

Aftermarket HIDs do not take this into account. They just scatter light everywhere.

Now, this is what I did in my tundra with h4 housings. I bought a d2r bulb (OEM bulb designed for reflectors)

    And installed using this

This resulted in a perfect factory beam with an HID bulb

I don't have this currently in my taco, but may do it.

When I first bought my 2011 I was guilty of running a HID kit in stock housings. I didn't know any better and the light output was pretty damn good (I thought). It wasn't until later that I figured out that it wasn't the best idea to do that so I went back to halogens and then aftermarket projector headlights (non HID). So the moral of the story is don't run HID's in stock housings.

Now I've got a 2013 and I'll probably just leave them alone. The light output is just fine with me.

From experience you are better off putting in the projector. I ran hid in my stock housings and one day I hit a really big pothole and my light shifted. It burnt the shit out the reflectors and I had to scrap the whole kit till I got a projectors.

Ive been running 4300k bixenon HID on my oem headlights for a long time. I had mine aimed real low to minimize glare but I couldnt see very far with low beams and the pattern is terrible so I recently took it off and swapped in 100w halogens. Its half the output but better projection.
