Anybody know anything about these new Goodyears? I'm wondering if they would be as good as the Silent Armor's

Silent armors are now discontinued and limited to stock on hand (edit) and perhaps warehouse stock.

The Adventures replace them. From what I can tell, big, bold "3 PLY KEVLAR" emblazoned right the hell on them in white did better in market testing than ARMOR did.

Tread (edit) is similar, and overall very similar tire, as far as I can tell and from what the goodyear guy told me...I'm getting 4 tomorrow for $1010 installed with an $80 rebate on the flipside.

I got a set of 4 put on this morning and made a~30 mile trip down the highway to sell a set of '13 tires and wheels.

They are extremely quiet and ride very nicely. No idea how well they work in snow (or sand/dirt/mud/gravel) yet, but (edit) the series has the little snowflake on them, lol. I guess that scares the flakes away...

I faced the white-wall towards the inside. That raised white kevlar marketing nonsense is just irritating and gaudy.

Attached. Sorry for the "porthole"...had the wrong hood on my cam.

The circle-looking thing is where the whitewall shouts, "KEVLAR!!!!!" on the flipside.

One pic of interior: my M6 came with the new InvisiMat "option"--a floormat made out of 100% genuine saranwrap. Got weathertechs on order for Tues :)

Tread pattern looks a little better than those junk silent armors. I just saw them on a commercial that was obviously all done with a green screen because it showed two fords off-road

    I like the duratracs but they don't make a 275/70 :(

Ah, I missed the difference in the tread pattern in the Adventure v. SA. Good catch. I'm going to go back and edit my post.

They are not available here until January's. A full set is about $150 cheaper than the SA's

I'm anxious to hear what your long-term experience is with these, I'm thinking of replacing the stock tires with these in a few months.

I had a pair of Silent Armors on my old Bronco and they were excellent.

Thanks for the pics oldswab. Tires definitely have a blocky/chunky appearance (in a good way). Did you consider any others? I had a set of Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2's on my older 4Runner and I liked them quite a bit. I may also consider the Michelin LTX A/T 2. I read a lot of positive stuff about the Michelin in the new 2014 Tundra reviews.

I was mostly after a quiet, wet-weather grippy highway tire that would also handle snow/unpaved roads. No rock crawling or mud-bogging in my near future, I expect. Also planning to tow an ultralite (Camplite/Livinlite if I can justify the expense) up into the mountains. Hopefully down again, as well :)

I looked at Hankook AT's (~$150 cheaper/4, both have similar rebates), and went with the Goodyears based on reviews and for religious reasons (owned differrent goodyears in the past and had good experiences with performance and treadwear).

These seemed like they fit my bill for a long-lasting (if I actually get the 60,000 miles they're warranted for), fairly pedestrian AT with good snow and quiet, good wet/dry pavement performance.

Did you opt for bigger size or are they the same as OEM? How is the ride so far? Thanks.

    265/70/16, same as the take-offs.

I've just had them on wet and dry pavement so far. They grip very well and they are as quiet as the tires on my ex's car. My inclination is that the kevlar layer is more marketing hype than functionality, but I suppose it could provide some extra protection when aired down. Not sure if it comes up the sidewall or not, which is where most of the catastrophic OR damage occurs. It might even stop a nail puncture at low speed, but I don't think the physics favors that most of the time.

Looks like I'll get to try them out in the snow before the year is up, from the way the weatherman is babbling.

Then again, I've got just slightly more faith in the weatherman than Congress, with car salesmen, lawyers, and shoplifters well above both of them, so who knows what's coming down the pipe...

Sorry, that probably isn't much help. I just got them, and only have the BFG Rugged Terrains (very good tire) and BFG Rugged Trails (just adequate) to compare it to. I am quite happy with them, as quiet highway driving is high on my list, and there is an $80 rebate on a set thru Dec 31.

I had the Adventure's installed last night and drove them 80km home in a rainstorm. I am very surprised at how quiet they are. I was expecting them to have a bit of howl on the highway, but I think they are quieter than the factory Bridgestone's. They seemed to handle the wet pavement and construction surfaces quite nicely!

Be aware that not all the Adventure series tires have the Severe Snow Conditions Emblem (Mountain & Snowflake) on them. I did not realize this until I looked at them this morning in the daylight. I'm going to see if the place I bought them will exchange them for a set that do. Hopefully it'll only cost me the difference in price and installation....

    Here's Hoping!!!

I believe only the LT (ProGrade in Goodyear terms) has the Severe Snow Service emblems. Those are slightly pricier than the P metric tire. They also don't make the LT in the Tacoma's 265/70-16 size.

You're absolutely right, but I didn't find this out until the tires were actually installed. Luckily my truck came with the 17" wheel option and Goodyear's "LT" sized (NOT LIGHT TRUCK) Adventures come in 265/70/17 which should still fit even though they are an inch taller.
