Thought I'd just introduce myself in the forum I'll be using most often. I'm a 36 year old HVAC mechanic for a Navy base and mostly build hotrods or tune race equipment in my spare time. I have owned several Toyota's through the years, but this is my first taco and maybe a slight attempt at reliving my high school days, haha.

'08 TRD off road 6-speed manual, Pro Comp lift, bilstein rear shocks, super lift rear springs, Walker Evans Racing beadlock wheels...ect
It's sitting on 37" Iroks, which is too much for me, I just ordered 35" BFG KM2's. This should end the little rub up front while turning and provide a smoother ride. I have a bunch of questions and a lot of reading to do here about mods, which is how I found the site.

I love those old Toys! Welcome aboard, I'm also a newbie here. Yeah, 37s seem like overkill...with what I'm assuming is a 6" lift? You'll probably break less CVs with the 35s:) I like your 1st Gen 'Runner, too. What are your plans for that one? It's clean and straight enough to keep it as a really cool stock DD. Rust free, it looks like??

Thanks! I love the first gen 4runners and looked a long time to find this one. I plan to get it painted this spring and buy a soft top for it.

I didn't want to let it go, but a family member needed some help and I didn't have any extra cash laying around. I had a buddy that wanted it and I was only using it to cruise around town these days, it was a waste really. I have way too many projects!

Thank you all for the welcoming!

Ordered 35" tires this morning but now concerned about the gearing. I don't know what gears are in it, but I'm running 2500 rpm at 65 mph gps, 72 mpg gauge. My seedometer will probably be 10 mph fast with the 35's and the rpm is killing mpg. Maybe I should have stuck with the 37's and just got an all terrain tire?
