sounds like nobody approves of any of the 6 inch lift kits available so whats the right way to get 6 inches of lift? looks like coil-overs only give you around 3?

Solid axle swap should net around 7 or 8 inches if done right.

    Only costs around 10 grand.

6" FabTech suspension 3" body lift, 35x12.50R15 BFG AT T/A KO tires, Mickey Thompson Sidebiter wheels, 4:88 front and rear gears, e-locker, "grey wire mod," Hella driving lights retroed to 55w 8000K HIDs, custom grill, Downey chrome air intake w/ AEM filter, AirAid throttle body spacer, Flowmaster exhaust, Alpine audio w/ 12" RF sub, racing bucket seats, black powdercoated toolbox, smoked out black taillights, black headlamps and corners, red LED interior lights, sway bar removed, rear shock relocation, u-bolt flip mod, 01 center console, Relentless Fab front plate bumper, LED fog lights.
6" FabTech is reasonably priced, quality product, and I love mine! More beefed up from stock, and gets ya up there if that's where ya wanna be. :D I WISH I could drop the money to SAS, tho. :(
Anywho, here's some pics of my truck with FabTech 6" lift! ;)

I just don't understand why you'd need 6 or more inches of lift on a taco, unless its a sas of course. It's a midsize truck, looks tacky with that much lift IMO.

    It depends on your use.

If you're looking to wheel the truck then it is advisable to get a quality 3" lift because it will outperform a 6".

If you just want the lift for the looks, a 6" drop bracket will be fine.

If you're looking for that look, that's a 6" lift and a 3" body lift (9" total)....Neither of those are liked in the wheeling world. You will get a lot more hate than likes with a setup like that.

I have a 3 inch body and a 3 inch suspension lift, if I'd wheel ! i would have gone with something different but since it's a pavement princess, the lift I have on now is perfect

I love my OME lift. I'd like more, but that would be aesthetic only.

I just wanted to make the truck as tall as me (I'm 6'-3")! :p
    [IMG]
I like my setup for what I use it for... daily driver, deep snow, backroad logging trails, and the occasional off-roading (not hardcore, tho). So for my uses, it's the perfect setup! I don't do much "crawling" because I've got a high center of gravity (which is a no-no), and it just doesn't interest me that much.
And if you were to do the 3" body lift and 6" FabTech, be prepared for a lot of "haters" trying to degrade your truck. But I say "different strokes for different folks," and do whatever YOU wanna do... don't allow others to overpower and decide what mods are best for your truck, and don't follow everyone else and do the same setup. Make your truck YOURS.
    Keep on wrenchin! :headbang:

Coilovers in the front and springs/shocks in the rear. There are a number of companies that make nice adjustable coilovers such as Icon, King, Fox, Camburg, etc. They will all set you back $1k +/- a bill or two. I have OME springs and shocks in the back, which provide about 3" of lift and seem to increase the carrying capacity of the bed (I can fill it with wood/mulch/work equipment without too much sag). Otherwise people say good things about the Wheelers 5 leaf pack and there's also Alcan springs.

I think these are much better options than a 6" drop bracket lift, which is irreversible (thus potentially destroying resale value) and doesn't increase clearance on its own. The latter really kills it for me because I think the principle of wanting a lift is to increase clearance.

If you want a quality 6" lift, all I can say is I hope you have a fat bank account. My 6" lift has cost me close to 4K if I had to guess. You will need to cut/weld/grind the Drop Bracket in, replace Control Arms, purchase extended coil overs, replace the spindle, mess around with steering extensions, bump stops, brake lines, etc...

If I could go back and do it again... I would do a Long Travel or SAS setup. Yes, LT/SAS is extremely complex and costs around 10k. IFS is a bitch! But if you have the time, money, and motivation, go for it :D

There are many many many many posts that you will have to search through to find exactly what you are looking for. Like others have said, a 3'' lift is the most ideal, but what fun is that :p

Here are some random pics of my truck throughout my expensive mods :)
As you can see from some pics, be ready to break shit and replace it :D

If all you care about is looks, it doesn't matter so much what you get. If you want better offroad ability, tub for 35s, run quality coilovers, springs, and shocks, and regear. You'll get 2-3" from your lift, 2" from your tires, and it will be a capable truck.
