Pretty much the only thing I saw all day... and some of my pics are blurry :( Probably because it was getting dark and I was shivering as I was taking hte pics (didn't think to grab my jacket as I jumped out of the truck
You remember the highway that connects West Yellowstone and Belgrade? And the section of that road that is within the park boundary? Well, I saw them in there on the way home. Good thing too, I was pretty disappointed that I hadn't seen anything all day. :( But there were two big bull moose walking through the field, and as they got closer to the highway they started to fight! Wasn't a serious, fight to the death sort of a fight, just a "let's give the folks standing up there with their cameras a good show eh, old pal?" sort of fight. :)

Too windy and cold today. Will probably do the install inside my garage in the near future.

Interesting meet but glad I am back home. Met a lot of new people and had a good time.

    MOOSES!!

The boy in the front is a little younger and smaller
    _MG_5202_zps00203970_cfea2362fd63b8b337fae34e64e6fbb6dc996950.jpg

Then he started to take an interest in me and started walking right to me! I had to quickly explain that yes, I thought he was very handsome but I didn't necessarily like him in "that way".
    _MG_5220_zpsbfa1e6c3_b5ec287fe2bcbac3dba563cf653fe090a92ee048.jpg

So he looped around back towards the other bull and I thought they were going to kiss or something.
    _MG_5227_zpsf313f508_70f593d18b474b7b934208efa6f5348b5faf47a5.jpg

And then he lowered his head and they started to fight...maybe he was trying to impress me? :notsure:

    _MG_5231_zpsbe2ef622_fafb74c334c07dbff25442fc7130dcaeb532a619.jpg

They gave up fighting, went back to eating and eventually crossed the road.

But I didn't want to be up! I wanted to sleep in!

No swans, just mooses. Which are probably boring to you - and I know our big mooses look wimpy compared to AK mooses.

Maybe. Or maybe there's some effect that campfire time and cool, fresh air have on me to knock me out cold.

Was it a good turn out? Any "classic" Toys like old FJ's?

;) The word is out in the Moose Community ... Weesa loves Moose. :D

:woot: MOOSE FTW! Moose are never boring to me ... no wildlife is, I'm interested in all the critters.

I think camping makes everything better, sleep included. Just like a simple breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon cooked over a camp stove always tastes better than anything you've ever cooked in the kitchen at home. Just being "out there" enhances everything.

I should add that the sleep is not better if you get in too late and pitch your tent on rocks with a downhill slope  ; like we did on our Caribou hunt the end of August. Had to figure out a distorted fetal position to curl around the rocks and lie in the soft spots. Woke up two or three times a night with my feet against the side of the tent; had to inchworm in the sleeping bag back up hill. ... we made a bold mental note to get a much earlier start next year. Probably go in a day early. And if I get my side x side, I'll take a cot in too. ;)

I think I was the only 5 lugger there at the meet.

Met a lot on nice guys and their GF/Wives. Had a wonderful dinner after the meet and an uneventful drive home. I still feel wind burned today in the face. The flags were starched all day long.

 Does this mean you'll take it easy today...like a recovery day. Probably a new concept for you. ;)

I would strongly recommend having someone help you when you install the hitch. Extra set of hands will really help. The jack supports the weight, but it's awkward laying under the truck and getting the bolts to line up and go in. My hitch was after market from Uhaul; from Jim's advice, sounds like the OEM are a little tougher. Extra set of hands helps with the wiggle factor getting things lined up. My opinion FWIW.

    Have a great day! :)

Yup that stretch of road is a gold mine for bear and moose sightings. I rarely make that trip without seeing something

    :woot:

Yes, I do love the mooses. But since its still rut I was concerned that he might be a little confused.
Totally agree, everything is better out camping - except the bathrooms
And I've done that too, camped in a less that ideal spot. This summer when I saw the owl, I spent so much time taking pics of him that I didn't leave myself much time to find or set up camp. I usually like to find a spot that allows me to have my head a little higher than my feet and I had to get up in the middle of the night and flip everything in the RTT around 180* because I had failed to do just that.
I wonder if you could fit an RTT on a UTV? Hmmm....

So you were the only 5 lugger and Steve was the only 1st gen? Not much for variety out there are they? ;)
    Tom? Rest? Nawww....

Valid concern. ... I just couldn't resist having a little fun with ya. :D

Hmmm ... maybe with a rack built over the bed to support it over both the cab roll cage and bed. Got measurements of the base or a link to web page?
... you've actually got me thinking about that.

    I know you're right ... he won't rest. ;)

Glad your field trip was productive ... sounded like you needed it Friday afternoon. :)
