Got the yardwork caught up today. Beautiful outside. Lighting the wood stove for the first time tonight out in the garage. Time to make a packy run.

I was down to bare metal in some spots but there were a lot of areas where the factory paint was still holding on.

Mine was flaking and there was lots of rust under the paint. I say fuck it and sand it all down. I wanna put heavy duty bedliner on my frame rails to get lasting protection

It probably didn't have any wax on it before anyway lol. My paint has been neglected for over a year :/ i actually took my badges off and i couldnt get the residue off from the tape with goof off. I think it might have been wax lol. It came off with degreaser and the clay bar. I am ganna try to buff out some scrathes tomorrow and tuesday i am bringing it to dinos auto spa :D i have $160 in gift cards. So they can wax it and clean the interior.

I plan to coat the frame with Fluid Film before winter comes. I'm hoping with the thin layer of Rustoleum and the Fluid Film, it'll be enough.

It can be done in a day. I can get mine washed, clayed, polished and waxed in about 6 hours if doing it by hand and I have a double cab with a shell.

Evan, you just stripped all the protection off your paint, make sure you get some wax on it before too long.

just got a Suzuki 250f for free. pretty stoked! needs a little work to get it running right, but it's clean. I'm thinking I'll put in a 2 stroke 125 if I can't get the engine on now running right.

Well thats awesome. Anything free is good. Are you ever planning on designing/building a rear bumper? I scratched the underside of mine up pretty good last wheeling trip, and im thinking its just a matter of time before i do some real damage to it.

It just so happens I backed into something with mine. It was a gentle reminder I need to build one for myself. While I'm at it I'll make one for you. Stock replacement, or high clearance? I'll make a stock replacement before I chop my truck up... Don't need the super high clearance yet. But that could be a possibility.

And the bike is sweet. Frame is in perfect shape, new shocks front and rear, but the engine is... In need of some love. Luckily I live very close to where it was built for the bettencourts race team... They'll have everything I need. It will be a nice project to get ready for spring time.

Add a high clearance 4Runner bumper with maybe some smoothed corners like Johnny's bumper, to the list :p

And we can go riding once we fix my damn frame and motor mounts and shit. My poor bike was special needs and I adopted it unknowingly from the kindness of my heart

That sounds good. Sadly this bike is not of the road legal orientation. It is a dirt bike! This bike is definitely special needs... Needs a lot of love...

This will be my first year using it. My plan is to apply it on the next semi-warm weekend. I've read that the Fluid Film gets thick when it's cold so I'd imagine that would make it difficult to spray on evenly. The only reason I didn't do it this past weekend was because I wanted the paint I just applied to get a good cure before coating it again. As far as timing, I'm hoping I can get it done in 3 - 4 hours including setup and clean up. I have a feeling that my limiting factor will be my compressor keeping up.

I did it a few times by hand, now I have an orbital although it has yet to leave the box...
