So I caved and bought a cb and will install it either tonight or tomorrow depending on how drunk I get at this first tasting. I have to go in for my 10k service tomorrow as im at 11290 miles. Whoops. Maybe the dealer will have wifi so I can bombarded yall with pics and videos.

And I can say that from just south of needles, ca and up is absolutely beautiful. I need to ninja down to crater lake

Haha, I just pulled into McMannville Toyota for the 10K service at almost 12K miles. :anonymous:

    Now for some pics...

    DSC00285_2fec14ce20569c5da79004a7b8feb86238c69378.jpg

New crack in my windshield, but I don't know what it's from outside of the consistent change in temp (from 27* to 94* in Death Valley)

    DSC00286_5678d50cbec7c2788ab1f2c93a45124edd867f07.jpg

The Grand Canyon from the North Rim. I didn't hike any since I was on a tight schedule (I drove 15-16 hours that day), was in flip flops, and I'm pretty lazy these days.

Death Valley. I got there really late in the day and couldn't find a map so I didn't stay long.

So Death Valley.... It was 94 degrees there (in late October) and I couldn't help but to think back to the 49ers that came through in the 1800s before the AC, cars, easy access to water... Those are some tough mother truckers. The pics don't really do the place justice (as they have failed to do this entire trip IMHO), but they had their balls screwed on tight for the trip.

I drove almost all the way to SF that night, and only in Cali (Bakersfield to be precise) can you find a traffic jam at 10 pm. I bedded down at 2 and was up and on the road around 645 to try to make it to Oregon in time for my buddies' brewery tasting in Salem. If you don't have a full day to donate/spare, avoid the Golden Gate Bridge/Alcatraz/Haight Ashbury etc because, dear lord the traffic....

I made it up to Salem at about 645 after stopping and becoming a "Professional Driver" at Pilot to save money. I bought a CB as well and as soon as I get to the brewery, I'll work on installing it.

My friends' setup is pretty sweet, and they are only making it sweeter. They bought a repurposed ambulance and are transforming it into an am-BREW-lance. If you're ever in Salem, stop in and say hi at Vagabond Brewery. We were all in the USMC together and they are some of the coolest guys I know.

Now if A&M's defense, pick6 not withstanding, could stop Vandy from scoring anymore, I'll be a happy camper.

I'm working on uploading the videos but once again, the internet (maybe it's youtube) is slow on the upload.

Great day all around and with my cb up and running, this trip just got more... entertaining. Trucker jargon is exactly like Smoky and the Bandit.

So, the 4am bedtime with copious amouts of booze and Top Gear took it's toll. I drove to Mt. St. Helens today and WOW! Such a great hangover drive once you get off of I5.
Fall is by far my favorite season for various reasons, but we definitely don't get colors like this in Texas! Unfortunately there was some serious cloud cover and you couldn't see the crater, but it was still a really cool drive!

The Lil' Wil is only temporary, but it gets pretty decent reception.

Arches National Park Offroad. Before you go ranting and raving, it's completely legal, and the trails are on the map you get from the gatehouse/ranger station, you just can't go off trail. This is the beginning of the road, so it's really tame, but it has a good view of some of the hills I got to play in.
