yeah, I used to have an android app that worked like a dash cam. Tried it for a while, but it was buggy. Probably better ones out there now and phones are better too.

I've heard stories of kids doing this. I am not sure what is going through their heads that would make them want to do this. I googled this and found 71,000 results about it. I guess it's more apparent this happens then what is on television.

    That's funny.. Haha sorry..
I had a similar thing happen. Kids throwing large sticks off a high embankment. Hit just under the front grill slammed it in reverse and backed up a dirt road they were on. Chased them all the way to their house (on foot) and pretty much into it. Their mother was there and was like "WTF?!" Hahaha I explained and stated there was no damage just wanted to teach them a lesson. They were shitting their pants! Haha

Some kids threw a rock off an overpass right into my 2 week old Chevy Blazer. Wife was driving and didn't see the turds that did it. Had a quarter size round crack in my windshield. That sucked balls.

    Damned kids.

Well, a long time ago I did this, it's been almost forty years, with a twist; we (of course it was a group, the IQ of a group of boys equals that of the dumbest member divided by the number of boys in the group) were throwing the rocks over a fence that bordered an embankment that led down to the main drag through town. So we couldn't see the road. Someone chucked one and we heard a loud "bang" followed by screeching tires.

California Highway Patrol. And he was not amused.

I know I never did that shit again.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
a few years ago, when i came home from Iraq, i had a group of teenagers standing in the road with a BB gun, which at the time i thought was a .22..

well i drove by slowly not thinking too much (a few blocks from my house)
i mean, guns are not a bad thing on thier own.

when i stopped at the stop sign at the end of the block i saw them pointing somewhere in another direction and looking a little suspicious so i watched for about 10 seconds while i debated going back and chewing some ass for helping anti-gun nuts case etc. Then they realized i was still at the end of the block and one pointed and yelled something while the other pointed the BB gun at me, (still thought it was a .22) and the third covered his face. Welll, as you can imagine i was seriously heated.. So in nothing short of a Bi-Polar rage moment i went 2 blocks to my house and grabbed the shorty 12 gauge mossberg 500a i just got done building, and loaded it with polly rounds (less lethal).. I was fully intent on going back and scaring the stupid out of them. Lucky for them my friend was at my house and stopped me, carefully.. and i called the cops instead.

The 3 boys, one was 18 the other two minors were arrested by the local police.. There were a number of other callers who reported them in other areas around town and they had been shooting cars with what was identified as a BB gun.

Its not kids throwing rocks, but its kids being retarded lol

That is so dangerous. About 40 years ago some kid(s) threw a softball size rock from an overpass onto the freeway by my house. It went threw the windshield and kill a lady. To this day the police don't have a clue. That person will have to live with it their entire life and will be held accountable in the next life.

This same thing happened about 10 years ago here in NC. Not sure if they ever caught the fuckheads.

dailyroads voyager for android works pretty well. It's free. I have it set up for background recording so there's no screen lit up in the truck. So far the only software conflict I've ran into is BeyondPod - if that's sitting idle in the background, then dailyroads will make a new video every 5 seconds . Otherwise for three weeks now it's behaved very well. Here's an example of day/dusk/night from my old droid charge. I figured for the cost of zero, as I already had everything I needed to make it work, the honest witness could be good insurance just in case.

Nighttime recordings leave something to be desired on my old phone; it slows the framerate and washes out details (i.e. license plates) in bright light, but it's better than nothing. From videos i've seen on youtube the newer phones like the Galaxy S3/S4 take some pretty darn good night video.

Most important thing on these is a stiff mount so the image doesn't shake. I frankenstein'd a Garmin windshield mount (HARD plastic) + a spring-loaded phone clamping mount and it doesn't shake unless the bump is painfully big.

Eventually I'd like an 0801 1080p mini dashcam so I don't have to hang my phone next to the rear view mirror everyday. Maybe Christmas.

This is just more proof of why children are inferior and must be destroyed.

    All joking aside:
Seriously, if i could prove the specific person whom did it, they/their parents would be buying me a hood painted the correct color and paying my $100 windsheild deductable.

thats what the dashcam is for. pull their faces from the video and then start knocking on doors. wouldn't say upfront what happend more along the line of have you seen these kids? if yes then start going where do they live and then go get money from parents.

In the 2006 baja 1000 i came to a water crossing before mikes sky ranch, as i drop into the water i see some guy wind up and throw something at us. what ever it was came right threw the windshield opening and nailed me in the side of my helmet. Now i have the guy in my sights and i aim right for him as i come out of the water crossing on the opposite side, people were diving for cover to get out of my mind crazed way. We proceed on because it is a race after all. eventually we had catastrophic failure with the car around race mile 700, while we were waiting for our support i see this thing lying on the floor board, i grab it and it seems like a wadded up t shirt with something in it. hummm, it was wrapped in some kind of string, i untie it and it was a BAJA PITS t shirt and a 12 oz tecate can was wrapped up in it. Crazy Mexicans. at the time i really wanted to run the guy over, then, me and my co driver were super stoked to have a 12 oz beer to share in the middle of nowhere while we waited 5 hours for someone to come and recover us and the truck fro the desert.
Thats my getting things thrown at me while driving story.
