Fapped it mostly. The units in Europe cover the Balkans and former eastern bloc countries, so I did a couple of BS rotations to Bosnia and Kosovo, and training missions in Hungary and Bulgaria. I'm not saying it's completely safe, it is the land of three legged donkeys and one legged children (god damn Russian land mines), but it's pretty chill. I did a year in Korea because you get to choose your next duty station (it sucks there), just so I could go back to Germany. Turns out I really liked Korea, and I made the all Army Taekwondo team and got paid to punch people in the face. I saved a lot of money there and when I got back to Germany ordered the taco through a tax free military program Toyota has set up. You custom order your rig, and they put it on a boat for you. The only reason I came back to the states is because the unit I was in shut down. I got to pick my next duty station there too, and picked SoCal because I like the desert. It was awesome, got to go to lots of offroad races and wasn't too far from home. It's really amazing what some hillbilly from a tiny shithole in Eastern Oregon got to see in a few years....plus I brought home a nice souvenir, a lovely German chick! lol

Of course there is. Ramstein Air Force Base is one of the biggest in Europe, plus there is Japan, Iceland, England, etc. Ramstein is a city unto itself really (and there's a hooters right off post). Here is my advice, if you want to finish your degree join up and do it while active duty. How does 100% tuition assistance sound? The post 911 GI bill is pretty sweet...ask Brady...oh and if you have student loans you can get those paid off too, and because you aren't a fucktard you can come in as an E-4 and get paid pretty good right off the bat. I was an electronics technician, primarily worked on missile systems, but also radar and some other secret squirrel shit. I got out of the Army on a Friday. The next Monday I started a 6 figure job. It didn't happen by accident, I chose the field because I wanted skills on the outside. Yes, I got to blow shit up along the way, but you end up with a bangin' resume. We just got a new guy at work. He has a PHD and no military experience. I make more money than him. Just sayin'.

I work for the National Weather Service as a doppler radar technician, and I also calibrate weather sensors at regional airports as well as maintain the weather radio network. Mostly I surf TW and wait for something to break...go talk to an AF recruiter. Do it.

Yep. 1 year in the shit hole. Pretty boring but at least I was a long ways away from the flag pole working with Secret Squirrel people so I got away with a lot of shit over there. haha
I have an Uncle who did that. He was drafted into Vietnam and stayed in. 3 kids later and however many years (I have no idea) she divorced him and won a court battle with him and gets half of his 30 year retirement pension:frusty:
You have to have your bachelors to enlist as an E-4, other than a few special programs, but good luck finding those and them being what you want to do.

The only real thing I get to put on my resume is that I have a lot of experience being in a leadership position and I think it shows from time to time at least. haha But if I wanted my $20K enlistment bonus I had like 2 jobs to choose from and who doesn't want to drive a 32 ton vehicle around that leaves huge fucking craters in the ground with unreal accuracy even at 30Km away!!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention the GI Bill. I deployed so I get a better version, but they pay me $1300/month while going to school, plus they pay $4500 of my tuition for the year, plus I make my monthly drill pay of about $300/month.

The one catch, is to go to Germany you have to be active duty and it is stupid hard to go to school while being Active Duty, hell it is hard enough while just being in the Guard it seems.

I wont be jumping my truck but I am a little concerned that flexing with lots of weight in the back as well as a heavy bumper and maybe a spare tire carrier might cause problems.

It bugs me when 2nd genners like janster (and others) assume all 1st gens fail because of rust issues and confuse the issues around toyota recalls. It also does not help that the OP did not disclose until his 8th post on page 2 that fact that he may have caused it by a very hard landing.

    If you go ROTC...

    And join the guard

You can sign up for the SMP, where you're undeployable, but get NG E-5 pay to go to school
    And a ROTC stipend of 3-500 /month
And if you scholarship you could have school paid for....
