I've always liked the sound of a Steel Guitar, more specifically a pedal steel.

Anybody know of any good bands or songs that have a Steel Guitar? Could be old or new and any genre.. Post'em if you do.

Here's a band I saw in concert earlier this year, they were good live. It was cool to hear a band live with a pedal steel for a change.

Thanks for the post, and reminding me to specify pedal steel. I like both, but the pedal steel just has a certain melodic draw to it.

I wondered...in that case here's my favorite pedal steel player.

Crappy video but good sound. Not a lot of people realize that he plays steel on "Teach Your Children" - probably one of the most famous recordings ever made on the instrument.

Never heard of Flying Burrito Brothers lol, that was a strange era.

Yeah Junior Brown is an awesome player, he actually came up with that guitar and had a guy start building them for him, he calls it the "Guit Steel". I saw him player years ago at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels Texas ( TX oldest dance hall, cool place). He was tearing it up.

Gram Parsons of Burrito's is widely considered the father of country/rock, going back to the International Submarine Band in '67, then dominating the '68 Byrds - Sweethearts of the Rodeo. Google Sneaky Pete Kleinow for lots more pedal steel.

    OK, I'll look him up.
J.P Harris-Got the trucker song feel, I like trucking tunes, good for truckin.

Robert Randolph one- Kind of speed funk, not bad.
Sounds more like slide to me, but it's cool.
That's a good song for it.

Here's another a like, that has the steel feel, I look for.
