    "Little Bear"

A few years ago my daughter was riding in the back seat of the 2011 PreRunner that I had and she asked me the name of my truck. I told her it was a Toyota Tacoma. She said "No... What's it's name?". I said I don't know really. I've never named a vehicle. So she told me his name was Bear and it stuck. My wife's car is named Gracie after my daughters middle name. My daughter had a unbelievable emotional attachment to "Bear". I guess because it's really the first vehicle she really remembers and we took it everywhere (South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Etc..).

My wife and I jokingly said that I would never be able to get rid of Bear because of my daughter. Well... Last week I did. I traded "Bear" in for a 2013 Loaded Tacoma 4x4 OR. I went to pick my daughter up from the Boy's and Girl's Club after school and before we walked out I told her that I had something that I had to tell her. Immediately she looked at me and asked "DID YOU GET RID OF BEAR!!!!!" I told her I just wanted her to come outside and look. She then asked again in a much more stern voice... "DID... YOU... GET... RID... OF... BEAR????". I told her yes and took her out to the truck. She had a come apart with huge tears rolling down her face. I felt like shit...

I had to make up this huge elaborate story of how vehicles are like dogs and they age faster than humans and how "Bear" was going to go to Car College and this new truck was his younger brother "Little Bear". "Bear" and "Little Bear" had a long conversation at the dealership about all the things that my daughter likes and likes to do and the places she likes to go. After a little while when she saw there wasn't a whole lot of difference between the 2 trucks she settled down. Now we have "Little Bear" and I will obviously never be able to sell him.

The things you do for your kids....

I call her Mia because she's good looking (I think so anyway) and the few Mia's I know are all damn fine. It's a hot girl name in my experience...

Now THAT is a story. I love the part where you said she goes "DID...YOU...GET...RID...OF...BEAR?" That was just funny. Better hope that the dealership that you traded in "bear" to doesn't sell it to a neighbor!!!

Oh my god I never even thought of that!!! That would be hard to explain...

It was kind of funny... The next day I picked her up and backed into the garage. I was getting something out of the bed and turned around and she was hugging the front of the truck. I asked her "what are you doing?" She said... "Give me just a minute, Me and Little Bear are having a moment".....

    My daughter....

I named my truck Sady, but then found out my pregnant assistant manager at my job was naming her child that, and am now looking for a new name. Lets just say I'm not her biggest fan.

Why should you change your truck's name? She's the one that sucks.

My 2001 Ranger (Single Cab XLT) was little and white so the kids named him Stuart, the Taco is white to, but not as little so being a Japanese Truck made in Baja he is known as El Stewieson, Stew for short!
