Switched which welder I want. Decided against the Miller multimatic and instead looking at either a Thermal Arc AC/DC 186 tig welder or a Longevity Tigweld 200 ex. Both are 200 amp max do stick welding, and, have a HF start for tig. Just trying to find which one has better reviews

Personally I like TIG better for quick jobs. Unless you know your MIG very well and can set the controls perfect the first time I can get a TIG in the ballpark and control the heat with the pedal from there. Then again that's if your working on parts that you can clamp together and not tubing or something where you need 3 hands to hold everything.

When I buy mine your more than welcome to come over and play with it. And tig is way easier to get going than mig. Set it to 1 amp for every 1/1000 of an inch that your material is and go. You can control your heat after that. Mig you better have some extra pieces laying around to get it set on...

Using a mig welder would be every handy for tacking stuff together. Tig is a bitch to do it with if things aren't perfectly touching and require 4 arms to hold

Once you start welding thicker plate such as 3/16, 1/4, up to 3/8 or so setting a mig is easy. You just remember the settings off the top of your head. If i was going to build stuff like bumpers and such there is no way i would get a tig welder. If you are plannjng to weld stainless and aluminum alot then yes tig is the way to go. Not only that tri-mix gas which is needed to tig is way more expensive than say 75/25 which is what we use at work for .035 hardwire and .045 fluxcore.

Why wouldn't you get a tig welder. Welds from tig look a lot better to imo. Unless you're an expert at setting a mig machine...

Well I almost has my tailgate on last night. I got it to fit closed alright then when I went to let then tailgate down it caught the bottom of the bed of my truck. Damn. Had to cut the mounts off and now I gotta redo them next week. Oh well.

It was a 95 Chevy Blazer and her front end is all F-ed up. I swerved into the turning lane to aviod hitting the car in front of me and she slammed into me. She pushed my left tires on to median. I'm just glad that she had insurance.

FYI-the plasti derped on my rear bumper held up
