2013 4x4 White Tacoma Off Road

On 10/23/2013 I decided to trade my 2011 PreRunner on this truck. I really have no idea why but I just felt the need to buy a new truck. The only thing that I ever really regretted about my PreRunner was I wish that I would have bought a 4x4 at the time. Although I never really do any off roading and never had any trouble getting around in the snow or on trails that I ran to launch my kayaks it is nice having the piece of mind of having the 4x4 just in case. So with that said I bought a Loaded 2013 Off Road with every option on the list.

List of mods so far (Updated often so check back):

    Build So Far:

16x9 KMC XD Enduro (Matte Black) Wheels
    Fierce MT Tires
    KB Voodoo Bed Rails
Yakima Load Warrior Mounted in the bed
Shortened Factory Radio Antenna to 14"
Painted Front Grill to match Lower Valance
40" LED Light Bar attached to N-Fab Bar
Smittybilt Receiver Hitch D-Ring with 3/4-Inch Shackle for 2-Inch Receivers
Dee Zee DZ86964 Heavyweight Bed Mat
BlendMount Escort Radar Detector Rear View Mirror Mount
    Escort S3 Radar Detector
    UltraGauge OBDII Scanner
    Tailgate Lock Mod

Truck as it sat on the lot (I don't know who the old woman was gooning at me)

2011 sitting behind the 2013 getting ready to do the tire and wheel swap. Yes I still have the Factory wheels and tires from the new truck in the attic right now.

Nice looking truck. I really enjoyed your 2011 look and all the mods you did to it . They really wanted to charge you 145 for that pin stripe ? They would have had to pay me the 145 to have it on their.

    Thanks!

Crazy right? I told them that I wasn't paying for the stripe that I was going to pull off. I used to stripe cars for $25 per car when I was a service manager at Saturn before I got on the Fire Dept. They would turn around and charge $100 for the stripe. Took me all of 5 mins to stripe a car.

You know me... yeah it will probably be spotless at 30k miles too although I will probably actually take this one off road to play with the 4x4.

Bought the ultra gauge from ultra gauge.com. if you want it mounted like mine then get the swivel mount. They make a windshield suction mount but I didn't like how it looked. If you mount it where mine is there is just the right amount of cable to run in the headliner and down the a pillar. Ultra gauge cost about $70 iirc.

I bought the blend mount off Amazon for $80. It is pricey but worth it imo. It is well made and infinitely adjustable.

What kind of paint did you use to color match the grille? I have a chrome grille and am looking to do the same thing.

I actually got it at auto zone. I first sanded the chrome (and then the rest of the grill after I decided to paint the entire thing) and then used self etching primer and sanded that smooth. I used dupli-color flat black stripe paint (like you would use to paint a matte black finish stripe on the hood of a car) and it matched the lower valance perfectly. Used 5 lite coats for the grill.

If I get a chance I'm going to Derp my emblems tomorrow (I know.. I know..) but I hate chrome.

I didn't realize the KMC Enduros are 16x9. Do you have any rubbing issues? Also, when you have time, could you post a pic of how much the tires stick outside the fenders? I assume your tires are 265/75/16, are you on stock suspension?

No rubbing issues though they are very close to the caliper. But no issues with them and I've had them for about 12,000 miles. Tires stick out about a inch from the fenders with the offset. Sorry the pictures aren't any better. I'm in the middle of derping my emblems.

    Bone stock. For now.
Looks great man! You'll love having the 4x4. I recently sold my PreRunner because I couldn't stand not having a transfer case. Soooooo happy with the investment!

Yeah... I hate to admit it but that was my only regret about buying the PreRunner. I had no issues with it and it took me everywhere I wanted to go but you're right... it's nice having it there when you need it.:)

I took my dremel tool with a cut off disc and cut the ball off the top. Measured the antenna to 14" and epoxied the ball back on the top then painted with flat black paint. Reception is fine around town but I really don't know what it is like once you get far away. I don't ever listen to the radio. I usually just listen to XM, iHeart Radio, Pandora, or one of my thousands of songs on my usb drive.
