So i just noticed that Toyota increased the base price of a DCSB Prerunner by $500 - From 24,660 to 25,161. When I ordered my truck at the dealership they quoted me a price based on the 24,660 base price. Will I now have to pay $500 more when I pick up the truck in November?

Not if you have the final price in writing. If not and they raise it just walk. You might make it to the parking lot. Unless they have another buyer willing to pay more they should not let $500 kill deal.

X3 yep, I'd tell them I'm not paying that, then start to walk out. Guarantee they stop you before you hit the door.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yeah, I probably wouldn't let them force the extra $500 on me, just didn't want to deal with the extra hassle. Wasn't sure if the vehicle price is "locked in" when you order the truck.

I can almost guarantee if you see a $500 increase, tell them you will walk.. I would be they will make you happy and take it off.

You pay sticker price? Didn't negotiate at all? Price of used tacos over 100k km is cheaper in Canada though but new ones are more expensive

I negotiated off the sticker price prior to ordering and got a price in writing, but as usual, the fine print at the bottom of the quote states price is subject to change. Just wasn't sure if they would try to re-negotiate price now that there has been price increase from the manufacturer in the interim. I have no intention of paying the extra $500, just don't want the hassle of more negotiating when I go to pick the truck up.

When I ordered mine they wrote the sales contract and signed it. I knew what I was paying out the door (TTL, etc...) before the truck had a VIN assigned. If they told me I needed to pay more id respond with a big GFY.

It kills me that a prerunner is even 24k. I remember when the base model 2wd was 16k new. Prerunner base model should truly only be like 19k new. But all Tacoma's seem to have gone up. It's quite retarded.

If you have a buyers order signed by you and them with a price on it you're set. That's a legally binding contract in almost every state.

I don't know how much do you guys think the dealer makes... but it aint small. there are some websites that show the invoice price but its all bs there is no way dealers pay less than 10% off msrp. My wife's colleague son works for Mercedes as an enginer and he's got 50% off sticker. My inlaw works for honda factory in columbus OH back in 08 you buy 1 TL and get 15% off and 2nd one 50% off. The 15% off is ongoing till today. My aunt works for Chrysler factory in Brampton ON and she got 7000$ off a new Durango. The Dealers are like partners to the manufacturers they're gonna get better deal then employees.

Yeah, especially when I was in school, couldint afford a taco, paying my dues, being responsible etc etc... and then when I can finally afford a new one, I cant afford a new one because the new ones are like 6000$ more than they once were new, and now any Tacoma in silver access cab is like the rarest damn truck to find. :frusty: Although I am happy with the single cab I found. All things considered I got an o.k. deal on it...even though it took a year of searching and 300 miles of travel to buy :frusty:

They won't fight you over 500$ when you already gave them 10-15k in profit, they might try just to add to the salesman comm but they'll shrug it off and give you the original deal if you complain

I don't think it works that way. Every employee discount I've heard of is maybe a couple percent off.

I can only talk for the 5 States around Texas (Gulf States) dealers. We got the letter yesterday and nothing like that.

To Winck . Just look at the Monroney sticker (window sticker) at the very top number will be the starting retail price before any adds of any kind. Look at the same model on a unit on the lot vs your new unit to just hit the lot and will see the real difference.
