Who here also believes that the trd oil filters are just k&n filters that have been painted black and a trd sticker put on then. They look exactly the same (have not taken either apart, just from the outside they look the same). They are the only two oil filters with a 1" nut on the end....that i know of...

K&N and M1, supposedly also Royal Purple, are the same filters, made on the same line by Champion Labs.
K&N has the nut, M1 and RP don't.

But I would like to see an RP opened up and compared to the M1... I have not seen the claim that it is the same from a credible source yet.

I'll just put k&n stickers on my truck and tell those who don't like it to piss off. I'll run oem or oem trd, or m1, or k&n. i would religiously use only the m1 or k&n if they came with drain plug gaskets....i want a sack of ghose damn gaskets!

A heated up copper washer? I'm not following....

The oem ones are aluminum with a little bit of rubber on each side. I would think the copper would crush easier than the aluminum....

I see now what you mean. I wouldn't know here to get a copper gasket that fits perfectly so i'll just buy a sack of oem ones for now.
Thank you for your patients in dealing with my ignorance.

    Drain valve.
Flip the lever, oil comes out.
If you have a V6, you can change your oil in a nice shirt.
2.7 filter still requires something you don't mind getting oil on and grinding into the driveway.

The Suredrain is the only option that works on low-clearance engines like my wife's '04 Rav4.
The drain is on the rear of the pan, but angled down 45 degrees.

While I would not trust the unit to seal, the dust cap has an o-ring that will retain the oil should the disk seal fail.

Changing the oil on her Rav is a dream. Crank the wheel to the right and I can do the entire job kneeling by the front tire.
The filter and drain are right there.

    Gorilla fingers ;)

Seriously... I put it on hand-tight, but usually need pliers to break it loose.
But in almost 10 years, I've never seen any evidence of leakage from the disk valve. There's just a small dab of oil in the cap from the small amount that hangs around after removing the tool.

If you read up on the Fram Xtraguards they are as good if not better than all other filters.
