4x4 Turning

Why does my Tacoma turn like crap when in 4x4!

 

cause it's in 4x4. Thats the nature of the beast.

 

I hope your not trying that on dry pavment! And every 4wd will do that its drive train bind.

 

Don't use 4x4 in high traction situations. The reason it turns like crap is because the driveline is binding. If you have enough traction to bind the drive line, you shouldn't be in 4wd to begin with. Educate yourself on how 4wd works so you don't break anything.

 

I wonder how many times we will see a thread like this...

This. Don't do it.

 

Mostly has to do with not having a center differential. The front and rear tires are forced to spin at the same speed, but when going around a corner they want to travel at different speeds.

Nooooo..... CV joints DO NOT like making tight turns!!! You can blow a CV joint.

 

Whatever you do... when the truck won't move or starts to buck & jerk...DO NOT FORCE IT.

Take it out of 4WD first (if you can). If you can't get it out of 4WD, you need to rock the vehicle either forward a few inches or backwards a few inches. You need to release the torque off the driveline before it will disengage.
