Saw a few pages back that someone's making the maxtrac spindle long travel kit, who's making it?

Where do you 1st gen'ers get lift spindles for long travel kits? All I've been able to find is the solo spindles

i use a 3mm socket in a 6" extension for mine. works great.

unless you get a race kit (camburg, richer), no one does spindles from what i know of.

Well the Access Cab long bed has the same driveshaft and frame as the Double Cab Short Bed, so that's not it unless they were only talking about Double Cabs when they say short bed and long bed. Unless it has something to do with rubbing on the cab or something, I would think the Access Cabs and DCSB run the same kit.

I've been researching how to protect my bed mounted battery and I need some advice from you guys. I see that the main two ways to protect from shorts is to have a cut off switch or a high-amp circuit breaker as close to the battery as possible. There is not a whole lot of info about using the circuit breaker. Most of it is a bunch of hear-say and opinion rather than actual experience.

What I would like to to do is put a 150+ amp circuit breaker on the positive end right near the battery. I'm thinking this would trip and stay tripped in the event of a short. If I were to put a circuit breaker on the negative side there is more material to potentially re-short past the circuit breaker point.

I'm also thinking about putting a cut off switch somewhere in the system closer to the driver location.

Does this make sense and is practical? Am I over/under thinking this?

Also, i put this here because there are more users here that race so they might have a better perspective on the issue.

    Thank you in advance.

Hmm that's what I was afraid of. Anyone know what kit nelson18matt ran on his taco before he sold it?

Nah that'll work. But if you have a lot of accessories I don't think 150amps will be be enough and you could trip it just playing the stereo too loud with all your lights on and such..but that's a lot of accessories..so probably be fine. I used a 150 circuit breaker on my alternator wire after upgrading my alternator.

Breaker is a must and close to the battery on the hot wire is where it should be, putting cut off switch is completely your preference, I'm relocating mine soon and won't be adding a cut off, most guys use them on their dual battery setup. Buy a quality secondary fuse box too, I recommend blue sea they are solid and clean set ups

I have one of these inline about 12" from each of the batteries in the back.

    http://www.amazon.com/DB-Link-Gauge-Holder-Fuses/dp/B00D8E0SRA

Then I route the cables up each frame rail and come across the carrier bearing crossmember and into the cab. Notice, there's 3 cables there, 2 into one grommet and then another into the single.

    Picture019_e73763c750a85aa92a474f3734fa9bc0adb7fdf3.jpg

Inside the cab I have my master switch

    Picture012_efd9115d7ddb7a7d915ed06a1c8a907bd329c1bc.jpg

I typically only run on one battery, if the fuse pops, I'll switch to battery two. If that one doesn't pop then I know I've got a short between the switch and battery 1. If the fuse for battery two pops as well then I know my short is between the switch and my distribution block up in the engine compartment.

Circuit breakers are cool and all but I went with just a simple high amp fuse on each battery. IF there's a short, there's a short... You're not going to just accidentally pop a fuse these sizes.

Yea pretty sure he isn't running a spindle..look at the hub and LCA placement.

Matt ran the solo spindle for awhile but took them off and added gusseted stock spindles before he sold it cause he said the scrub radius sucked with the Spindles

So the solo spindle will work with other LT kits besides Solo's?

The V6 alternator is 130A so if I'm not blowing that yet I should be fine right? I'm all LED so far but I can amp test with everything on very easily.

I have a blue sea setup already. I love it.

I was thinking that the CB was more convenient for me. Even though the fuses are a less expensive/complicated setup.
