Do you have a Carmax there? Just gen an appraisal, I'm sure it will be higher than $16K. My cousin just got an appraisal for his 09 with 60K miles pre-runner TRD and they offered $15k which I think was a tad low.

This, this is where they get you. They give you a low number but when you add the tax you save it kinda evens out

another option if you have access to a carmax, ask them what they would give for your tacoma if they bought it outright.

that that and use the cash to negotiate.

That sux man. But the advice above about being able able to haggle is dead on. Make it part of the overall deal or did you already?

Tax savings for me is $1,360. So i would be trading it for $17,360.

Nope it's not my deal to negotiate, it's my fathers. I was just getting an appraisal and if it was close I was going to work with pops.

I looked in the book and with the information you gave that is the right trade in price. You might want to sell it outright and get a better price.

Personally I like Edmunds.com vs KBB and NADA to get an estimate of what my car is worth. Edmunds gives you an average of what the make and model of your car is trading or selling for in your area based on Zip Code. It's been fairly accutrate my last 2 dealings.

Some dealership uses Edmunds.com as well because of this. The only downfall is if you are trying to buy something from them, then it also comes up higher.

This, when I looked at trading in my truck there final offer was like 26.5k which brought up the total trade in offer to 28k.. roughly. There is always room to negotiate. Their first offer was like 23k

    Bone f’n stock for now
When I traded my mustang in the dealer offered 13.5 for it. When I pulled up Edmunds nada kbb. It was coming in at 15-15.5 average. The dealer said they would match the 15. I explained to them the 15 was for a stock mustang and that I had a laundry list of parts on it. And then offered to remove everything and give them a stock car for that 15 an hour later I was signing papers for the sell at 17.5 and all taxes and fees paid on the truck. And walked out with bill of sale keys and truck. And title came in the mail 6 days later

For a trade-in I don't think that's too out of line. No dealer is going to pay 20k for an 08 truck even with low miles. That's what they'll try and sell it for, but no way are they going to pay that. When I was shopping for another double cab last summer I looked at a few 08's and 09's with similar miles that were just over 20 grand retail at dealers. I wound up buying another 05 because I wanted another 05. Just took a while to find a nice one. Unless you just gotta have that Tundra I would just keep it. With those miles you could drive that truck for a LONG time.

Gonna keep the coma. Not wanting a car payment again anyways. Good to know what it's worth though.
