I've got a Para Ordnance Elite Carry .45, 3" barrel, and I've never had a single malfunction with it. I've put about 700 rounds through it now without a single FTF or FTE. I have a few pistols to choose from for carry purposes and this one is my go to. I also have my grandfather's Springfield A1 issued 1911 dated 1943. Shoots like a dream still with 1000's of rounds through it.

I didn't read the whole thread, and have been away from TW for awhile...but did anyone mention Sig Sauer ? I've got 300 rounds or so through mine without a hiccup...the options on the gun are very well finished, and the machining is excellent. The entire gun is stainless, and the black parts are finished off with a Nitrox finish ( nitrogen based to give it the black color.)

Nah...still a 1911,just with a more modern extractor. The rest of it is same ole same ole. They have 2 types...the"Classic" like mine with the rounded slide and standard 1911 look, and their "Granite" series that's more Sig like ( blocky shaped ). Great gun...and it's roughly 2/3 the OP's price limit and has all the bells and whistles ( Trijicon night sights, extended safety ( non-ambidextrous ),slightly extended slide and trigger release , beveled mag well, extended ejection port ).

Point your finger at a target. Notice how your hand is naturally rotated about 45 deg? It is quite legitimate to hold the gun at that angle if you follow the "point and shoot" philosophy for close-range gunfighting.

Incidentally, I bought an AK it would be a modernized Sig, too, in the form of the SG556R. Swiss quality is still amongst the best in the world.

Those are NOT Swiss and vary greatly from the real Sig 55x platform in terms of quality

Looks good! Mil-spec features with a modern coating. Neat concept.

Yeah I wanted a Milspec to remember where this gun came from and its history. I also didn't want to put match parts on it to change its appearance. So I did all the custom internal sanding and polishing and the new coating with grips IMO really makes a classic gun just that more amazing.

If you are still looking, you can't go wrong with Kimber Tactical II HD. I've put about 6k rounds through mine since 2012 when bought it.

I have 3 Dan Wesson 45 cal. 4.25 and 3.5 bbl length. One 10MM 5.bbl for hunting. I have a colt government also. I shot others kinds that my friend's had. But like the Dan Wesson overall. Nice shooting guns.
