Jealous of my brother this weekend, it's the youth hunt and he's gonna get out in the woods and leave me here to dry.

    Nice!

Finally get to really hunt tomorrow for the first time this year. There's NO food around here...so right now I'm just sittin and hopin somethin walks by. There are always deer traveling the ridge I'm gonna sit on. Tomorrow evening I'm gonna watch a power line. All the deer are finding fields or clearings to eat in the evenings so I'm hopin they'll come out.

It's also been a LOT colder today/tonight/tomorrow so I'm hopin the cold front gets em movin.

Yeah, that GA weather dropped like hell last night. We were in a blind until about 7:10 last night and it started getting cold! This morning, there was frost on my truck for the first time this year. I'm working until 2 today, but I'll be back in the stand by 4 lol

    :frusty:

About 930 I heard somethin come flyin through the woods. Grabbed my gun ad flipped the safety. 3 decent bucks came in. First deer of the season, didn't care what it was, I was gonna put some meat in the freezer. Pulled up on the only one I could get to stop running where I could get a shot. Pulled the trigger...."click". Re-racked, pulled the trigger, "click. They all ran off. Took all the bullets out, put new ones in, sat there for another 20 minutes. Had a little 3 point come 10 yards from me...again, meat in the freezer...pulled the trigger, "click". Gun shot fine last week sighting it in. Misfired today and cost me at least 2 deer. New synthetic semi-auto 30-06 here I come!

Man, that sucks! I've got a Savage .270 and I haven't even shot or sighted it in since last year...hopefully that doesn't happen to me. I haven't knocked it around or anything, so hopefully it's fine

Was it a shell problem or a gun problem? Just curious on what kind a round you were shooting. My dad had a box or hornady's do that to him a couple years ago, had a ton or miss fires out of it. Switched to Federal Premiums haven't had a problem since.

The first few that misfired were Winchester. I had some Remington core lokt in my pocket as spares ad they did it too. Thinkin maybe the spring for the firing pin is weak maybe.

Here's a buck i got in Nov 2011. Just getting psyched and cant wait for the rut to get cranking up here in little Rhode Island. Some chasing going on, just spotted a small 8 running a doe yesterday. I haven't seen many acorns where i hunt, some beech and that's it. Unfortunately I don't have any fields to hunt. Going to be a weird season.

Well i finally got a shot at a fat doe tonight. 35 yards over a clover field. easy shot. Missed. By a fuckin mile. Got pissed off and climbed out of the stand and went to the range to get some confidence up/figure out what the hell happened. at 20 yards I was 8 inches left and about a foot high. I guess i bumped the sight or rest pullin it into the tree over the past month. What really gets my goat is that i spent like 15 hours super tuning this thing before season. was shooting 3" groups at 50 yards too. but at least I didnt wound her with a high ass shot or something. So saturday morning instead of sittin in the stand I will be at the range re-tuning the bow to an acceptable level

    Let's talk glass, gentlemen.

Just ordered a brand new Remington 750 Semi Auto, Synthetic, 30-06, and I need some good glass to go on it. Recommendations?

I like Nikon personally, I have Nikon and leuopold? Scopes. The Nikon on my 280 seems to sight in much easier and is clearer to my eyes than the L on my 270. Both are nice and both work but my next will go back to Nikon. The Nikon adjusts 1/4 clicks and the L is 1/8 I believe.. I couldn't tell a difference besides the $$
