Maybe he cared about his customers when you ordered yours? It may even be possible that he does again, but when I ordered mine, he could care less about his customers.

    Look at build!
Maybe.. I even got mine when it was on sale for a total of around $100 off so you'd think then that he'd not quite care as much but who knows, I've had good luck from him

So there is an area I can leave my other truck and not have to worry about it?

No bearings to be had anywhere around here...doesn't look like I'm going to be able to make it.

okay, need help on a cb and wilson antenna. idk which cb would be good for our use but i'd like it to have the pa option as well. also for the wilson antenna i want to be about to mount it on top of my yakima roof rack system. what would be a good antenna for range and clear understanding of what i am saying on ya'lls ends.

EDIT: just remembered this as well. seeing as the antenna wouldn't be grounded very well on the roof rack, should i get fittings to ground the antenna and run that wire with the co-aux cord to a good ground point?

Billies on all four corners with daystar spacer lift. Bought it like this. Replacing done with toytec ultimate 3" lift
Don't mount it on the roof rack. With the lift and places we wheel, you will be buying one Everytime we go out

but wouldnt the main point of a cb be to use it while wheeling? if you take it off everytime you wheel you are kind of undoing your own plan????

okay so i actually read wrong...i have troubles reading no shit truth. but the antenna is recommended to at least pass the roof of the truck by a foot. i already know the longer the better...GIGGITY.
so change of plans, i am going to mount it in the front left corner of the bed. and then run a ground wire from the base of the antenna mount to a ground. since i hate the whole offset look of one antenna would it benefit me to do a dual set up and put on in both front corners or just suck it up?
EDIT MORE: so read some more about the dual antenna. seems it has its ups and downs. if i was to run dual it says to not use shorter than 4ft which is fine now since i'm going to run a 4ft. but what does it mean by when having dual antennas it is very "directional"

Ok... here's the truth of the matter:
    • Mounting antennas of any type on a plastic bed sucks.
    • Mounting to a toolbox, for CB frequencies, also sucks.
    • The best way to do it is with a relentless mount on the hood
    • Ask Brian or Justin if you don't believe me. Their CB's work better than anyone else's in our group with a 2nd gen.
    • Dual antennas is pointless at the distance of separation you can get on a Tacoma. It's called a phased array, and even if you put them on opposite corners front and rear it's not enough distance.
    • DC ground =/= RF ground. That "ground wire" does nothing but shunt common mode current from the coax braid to the chassis of the truck so that the SWR stays low at the radio. It reads fine on a meter, but performs like shit.

well i don't have a tool box and don't think i will...i will look into the hood mount. don't really want it there but if that is where i get best performance then tough shit on my part. i read that the only way that dual antennas actually work is if they are 201 inches apart and even on semi trucks the average width is 102 inches. i just hate the offset look but if it is only on for wheeling then i can deal with that.
