But is A-TRAC only active at 3 m.p.h. and less with the rear diff. locked? That's what I thought so that's why I don't use it.

One thing that I've figured out in this thread is our trucks have too many damn buttons. (And I don't want to land on that landing strip so I guess that's two things).

Interesting videos. The first one is a good example of DAC, now I can see how it would be useful, but in the last video it doesn't seem necessary at all. I've experimented with it a few times but I guess I haven't seen any descents steep enough and long enough to feel it was necessary. It's probably most beneficial on really loose sandy hills.

From David K.'s excellent explanation previously linked in this tread:

    9) L4 REAR LOCKED and A-TRAC ON. A-TRAC comes on automatically when speed drops to under 3 mph to provide front traction to get you going, again.

This makes it seem like A-TRAC is not active above 3 m.p.h. so that's what I was thinking.

Yeah it's gone to shit since his passing. Its amazing how quick trees and stuff grow.
He had money and left it to his kids about 1 mill each between 4 girls they somehow blew it in less than a year. Now the house and land just sit there. It was nice once all those little roads a paths didn't use to be there. My sig pic is my truck sitting at the top of the strip.

I think this was mentioned earlier, but I cant find it- Can you shift (into 3, 2, or L) while in 4 LO?

Pretty sure that is fine in 4 HI.

So to expand, can you shift using any of the drive features (4x4, Locker, ATrac, etc)?

I have to agree that yes, it does seem like we have too many buttons, BUT I would rather have all those buttons to turn things on and off as we want, than to have EVERY option active and controlled automatically by a computer. Being able to select when and where is a good thing.

Yeah I definitely agree with you there. I like the option of being able to select what I want but you have to admit that it can be a bit confusing at times with all the different selections we have at our disposal (evidenced by this thread) :)

Perhaps a single "rotary" switch to select different driving "modes" ? :notsure:

^^This^^ I thought the same thing when I got in the truck. Silly placement of A-Trac. If they HAD to put a button there then the DAC would have been better there IMO.
