It is easy enough to add whatever mix of Gentex auto dimming/compass/temp/homelink/maplight/camera display rr view you want and you can get whatever color readouts too. Just check out ebay and find the one you want that has the combination of features you want and one where the seller will put whatever color lighting in it you want.

Added the 341 with auto dimming/compass/temp/homelink/map light one in amber to my 08 RC. Since the RCs have no ovh console it solved several issues for me and added extras too. The 2013 RAV4 XLE we just got a coupla months ago had a plain ass mirror so I just got thru adding a genk45 or somethin like that with auto dimming/compass/homelink in blue to match the RAV4 dash lighting. It was 120 and even came with the factory wiring harness to hook it up. All you need are 2 add a circuit things for the fuse box and no splicing or hunting for wires is even involved. Simple to run wiring accross the front of headliner and down pillar too. If you get temp like I did in the 08 RC then it is just 1 wire out to the grill area. Just make sure to get wedge mount mirror which is what the Toyotas have.

Getting back on topic (Auto Dimming Mirror, for those who forgot) I encourage all of those who ordered a 2014 Tacoma to give toyota corporate a call.

They got back to me today with a solution I was very happy with.

They stated the quote they got from my dealer for the mirror for an OEM option was $1020.32 and an aftermarket option was roughly $400 installed. As a result they said they split the difference between the options and offered me a $750 check for being a loyal Toyota Customer.

I was pleasantly surprised and plan to go the aftermarket option, as the OEM option is just a rebranded Gentex.

It sounds as if they only offered me this option since it was a feature I expected when I ordered the truck, if you purchased on of the lot I don't think you will have the same luck.

They said the check will take 8 weeks, so I will update you if and when it comes.

Anyways, just wanted to share and hope you guys will have the same luck. This experience reinforces why I am a loyal Toyota Customer!

Thanks for the update. This is really helpful information. I've been pressuring my local dealer to include it before purchasing but they have stated it's not possible at this point and time.

Has anyone purchased a 2014 Limited yet? If so can you post a pic of your auto dim mirror? Even better if you could contact your dealer and find out what the Toyota part number for a replacement rearview mirror for your vehicle is.. and then post it that would be very helpful for us 2014 TRD buyers.

Cool, a problem that was handled correctly.

Even if you bought it on the lot with the package that is advertised to have the mirror as part of it, why wouldn't one expect the same result and get a check?

BTW, that dealer price for whatever feature OEM auto dimming mirror even with camera display in it, is crazy high. $1000 rr view mirror...insane. The aftermarket price is not that far off depending on options you want to have in it tho. But I paid 120 shipped for new one +plus wiring harness that was auto dimming/compass/homelink for the RAV4 and the auto dimming/compass/temp/homelink/maplight one with wiring harness for my truck was just under 200 shipped. Super easy install, don't pay to have it done. Just search Gentex on ebay and make sure to get wedge mount. There is every configuration possible.

I have been working with my dealer and they are willing to get me the mirror I want, so long as it is an OE part number.

So, here is my question, is there a Toyota part number for an auto-dimming Home-Link mirror with compass and temp?

    Aemedic,

That is exactly what I've been asking for. Sounds like the 2014 Limiteds have the mirror we need. Just need to get a part number for the mirror used in the 2014 Limited.

Because people who order the Tacoma see that it advertises the autodim mirror, but the paperwork/window sheet on the lot doesn't mention it as included so anyone on the lot is knowing what they are buying when they test drive/inspect. Doesn't mean it is right, but it is what it is. If anyone can get it included in buying a Tacoma on the lot, more power to you and you have a nice dealer...otherwise you may be SOL. No 2013 owners were compensated for it saying "homelink" as an included feature when it wasn't.

The one in the limited does not have the temperature...at least the dealer in Daytona says it doesn't...

The 13s have the camera display in the mirror and the 14s have the display in the head unit.

I'm sure that has been discussed before... ;~)

    Aemedic,

Did your 2014 have the outside temp sensor mounted in the grill? If so was the wire for it ran to the headliner? The best we might be able to do easily as a plug and play in an autodim or Autodim with compass and homelink is my guess. I haven't found a dealer that had a limited on the lot to go out and look for me yet.

The sensor is mounted behind the grill but if what I have read is correct, the temp is not wired to the plug in the headliner. Someone on this site fished the plug out of the headliner and found that it only had two wires (Acc power and ground). Any temp lead will have to be wired in, either from the ECU or directly from the sensor...

My Gentex in the truck and the one added to my Mazda both had a single wire that had to be pushed thru the firewall and run up the pillar to the mirror with rest of the harness for the temp sensor. IIRC it plugged into the temp sensor but was part of the harness on the mirror end.

Just traded my 10 prerunner dcsb for a 14 trd sport and was surprised by the the flip mirror some quick research led me to a used gentex tundra mirror that had compass auto dim and home link for 169 on eBay. Should be plug n play and here in a couple days I'll post pictures.

I too am waiting for my 2014 DBLB TRD sport. Disappointed in the lack of the homelink mirror/auto dimming. Domreis, or if anyone has installed a Gentex would be great to see a DIY. I'm looking into one just with autodimming/compass/temp/homelink. Cant find which model I would need to get.

All i found was GENK45AM from Gentex. Not sure if this will work or not.
The Tundra model only has the autodimming feature.

    Thanks fellas!
