Yeah those are with that lens. Those are minimal processing. I believe I bumped the red and green up about 8, added a vignette in Lightroom and went to PS and added a new layer with a high pass filter to sharpen it some. The shutter speed was a little low on that one. It was an afterthought when I walked by it. Yesterday was heavy overcast and it had just rained. I had ISO around 100 and shooting long exposures of the water and didn't think to bump up the ISO to increase my shutter speed for the rose. I also increased the contrast on all my pics a little in LR.

I've found shooting in manual and shooting with the meter slightly to the left of center tends to increase saturation more. I tend to usually shoot my pics a bit dark.

^Nice! one thing tho, is it just me and my monitor or does that main center leaf have no depth/detail sort of washed over with red? That was what made editing that one tough for me... It was hard to get that center leaf the way I wanted it (detailed with superficial lines) and have the rest of the image look okay. Maybe part of is it getting it how we see it thru the intertoobs... Even Facebook to imageshack quality is a huge noticable difference.

I reduced the contrast, dropped the whites and shadows, upped the blacks and upped the clarity in this one. Then I did a overlay of the high pass filter at a radius of 9.3 in PS See if that has the details more like what your looking for. It actually surprised me by reducing the contrast.

Thats's not grain that's the high pass filter your seeing. I never turn it up that much in my pics. I'll post a pic of just the filter to show you what it looks like.

Here you go. This is done on a separate layer and then set as an overlay on the picture. I think this is what your seeing as grain.

ahhh, interesting. You're doing that in PS? I'm definitely no editing expert but there has to be a technique to deal with that! Or maybe I just shot it poorly?

Yeah I'm using PS CS6 it's under filter > other > high pass. I'm no editing expert either. I'm thinking it may be looking too sharp now. It's kind of a funky pic. I've had some that I just couldn't figure out and just abandon them as a oh well moment and move to the next. I usually have a radius of 4.0 or less on my pics when I use the high pass filter and that one was 9.3 which most people don't use.

I don't have PS just LR5. And I agree, it is a funky pic which is why I was looking for inputs from you guys haha. I too let some slip by but I only took this one and thought it had potential granted it's kind of a snapshot... I'm telln you tho, reds are a toughie!

Reds always kill me as well. Usually the most on flowers actually. I don't know what it is but it looks oversaturated and undefined.

Don't mind at all! That's what this is for, getting different takes on it! Looks really good besides the white spots on the leafs... again though, not sure how much difference our monitors are showing/what we're uploading with... I did calibrate my monitor with a spyder4 and using imageshack.us it seems to look really similar to whats on my LR readout.

haha, just switched from my edit monitor to my laptop and there's a huge difference even though both are color calibrated... This is probably too tedious to solve via intertoobs...

Shots to change the scenery! from the same set as the red bush \/
