When sitting the new ones are about an inch shorter then my originals. They can pull out or push in, is this normal?

Basically I'm wondering if they sent OEM and if they are correct for tacomas.

I have seen that before. It was 10+ years ago so the details are a bit foggy. The fellow ordered 2 CV shafts and got 1 of each, an OEM type and and a thinny. It was a reputable rebuilder and they swapped it out with out a problem. If anything more comes out of the fog I will put it up.
Send em back, even if they fit. Aside from the thin shaft, it does not look like you could do a reboot down the road on those puppies.
CVJ has a pretty good rep and should (they had better) fix you up.

I figure they will, everyone seems to have good experience with them, and wouldn't badmouth them unless they won't take them back. Problem is the reason I went with them and not pulling a set from a junk yard is I'm crunched for time, I'll be going on a camping trip next week and will need 4x4. I had to get a set from NAPA cause I need my truck for work monday. anyway...hope it all works out, I understand mistakes happen.

Some of this Some of that
How much did they cost??? They look better quality than the ones i have with rotten boots after a year. And they have dust seals installed, I've transferred the dust seals on 3 sets of cvs so they have like 230k on them hah..

They come out to around $250 after shipping. They seem like good quality but they aren't oem and are about an inch short.

Got in touch with CVJ today, they said to send them beck and they'll refund me. They said they were 4runner cores and would have worked fine and the center shafts were longer, but when I put the napa ones up to my OEMs they were both the same. Don't know but they are refunding my money so I guess I'm partly happy.

Hmmmm... Interesting. I never even checked mine before installing. I installed them a few months ago so I'm assuming any problems would have cropped up by now.

4Runner, yep that was it. It's all coming back to me now.

The length of any given shaft (laying on the bench) can vary due to several factors. The brand of boot, the amount of grease in the boot, how much it was stretched or not at installation and altitude change all can play a part.

OP, Did CVJ take back the 4runner half shafts and send you out the correct ones for your Tacoma?

I'm trying to decide on which half shafts to go with...OEM, CVJ, Etc...
    I have to replace both.

They refunded my money but didn't send replacements, I went with Napa cause I was in a time crunch. They were definitely good to deal with and said the 4runners would work on a Tacoma but if I'm sending them Tacoma cvs I want Tacoma cvs as I can get 4runners easy for cheaper.

well slap my ass and call me Charlie....I just bought a cv from Rob and it looks just like that. its probably from 4runner, since he has a 4runner (duh) lol...Its my spare so its all good. I rather have an OEM 4runner axle than an autozone axle..lol

Oh ok. Let me know how they hold up. Saving money sure is nice. Having said that, there are some things ya just don't go cheap on...I'm wondering if Axles are one of those things.

Cvs from a runner should work.

I bought from Napa cause all the decent reviews with the plan to reboot mine and swap them back in so I would have the Napa ones for spares. So far I've had them for 1.5 years and no problems yet...

What did those end up costing you a piece?

I think for me it's a toss up between CVJ and OEM from Toyota Of Dallas I think.

Forget exactly but it was cheaper then cvj. I would either go cvj, junkyard our wait to find a set for sale on the forums.
