sounds like you had the RCAs potentially plugged into the channel on the head unit..

bummer on the mirrors..could get some 95-97s..they are "manual" haha but you have to roll the window down to adjust them..

That's what I thought too but I switched them around and tried them on all 3 channels on the head unit. And fuck that I hated those mirrors on my old 96. Such a bitch to adjust haha

I like em  easy to move out of the way since they go totally flat against the door.

and there is a very specific RCA output on the back labled F..for fronts..thats what they should have been in. Next make sure it was plugged inot the right channel on the amp..also the Front labeled F if its a 4 ch amp. If its not and its a single ch amp, make sure the LPF is OFF haha

    Edit:

And leave Bass boost off..i would not recommend sending more low freq to those speakers. In fact, you should have a good HPF on them.

Also..sorry if this comes off like im saying your stupid and this all sounds simple..but im not trying to say that..just saying what id be checkin if it were me..

Ha yeah these had some weight and size to 'em compared to others.

Haha no problem. I'll be the first one to admit I'm out of my element when it comes to tuning am amp. On the back of the head unit there were inputs labeled F, R, and SW. I tried them in all of them lol. It's a 4 channel amp so it also has a Front a Rear. Do I need a second set of RCA's? I have an adapter on the amp end that is a 1 into 2 plug so I have 4 plugs on that end and 2 on the radio end.

Works and sounds pretty good there, really balanced. The tweeters make the door bow out a little there though but now there's a hole in my door so I aint moving them haha

No you don't need the adapter.

You just need a single pair RCA cable running from the F of the head unit, to the F on the amp. Then you run speaker wire on the screw terminals on the amp labled Front to your speaker. Left and right go to the left and right speaker.

You then need to set the gain on the amp. Should be a knob on the amp labeled Gain. put in a favorite song via CD or Ipod whatever. with the RCAs on the fronts in and speakers hooked up. Turn the Gain all the way down on the amp. THen on the headunit, trun up the volume to about 75-80%. Now go to the amp and turn up the gain till the speakers start to distort. back it off just a touch till the distortion disapears and your done.

You'll want to do that with totally flat EQ.

On the Amp, id have Bass boost off and HPF on on the Front channel.

At this point though, you'd want to do the same for your rear speakers. But you do one set of RCA cables at a time. same goes for sub.

IF you have a Sub, id also turn on the HPF in the headunit..if you have it..

    Make sense?

after gains are set, you can tune the headunit EQ how you want.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense actually. I know what most everything is, just not how they work together. I wonder if I had the HPF off and the LPF on on the front channel and that's what made them sound muffled?

Thanks for the recommendation, I do plan on doing it sometime. I still have the entire rear of the cab apart since I'm building a sub box/bench for the back. I would like to do the back wall, extra cab walls, the doors, and maybe a little on the roof above the subs since they will fire upwards.

Nah I rewired it back to the head unit a while ago before it got dark. Left the amp wired and the speaker wires ran up to the head unit so all I have to do is pull the radio and connect the wires to the harness. 10 min max. I might walk down and check the filters though. Gotta wait till after the walking dead haha

The LPF was on... What is AP? There was a switch on the front and rear channels that had LP, AP, and HP on them and both were set to LP which makes sense because I have been running subs on the amp.

AP probably means All Pass filter...which isnt a filter at all but just full range. id run the HPF.
