I wouldn't see why they would be illegal. From what I understand you need red break lights, yellow turns, and a red reflector of some sort.

Technically yes they are illegal. you are required to have the taillights at the edges and rear most portion of the vehicle and are required to have some reflective material there as well. will you get pulled over for it? hard to say, if the officer knows title 28 then probably. most do not so its up to you to take the chance. pm if you need more info.

The desert trucks run blue and amber (sometimes under certain conditions/lighting/dust... blue is more visible than amber). They're just there so someone coming up behind you, sees you.

If you do run blue, make sure to disable that light on the street, you don't want to get caught running blue... they can hit you for impersonating police... not something you want to mess with.

yep! i pretty much got the box cut out, and its 38 inches wide, and my lights are 7 and 1/4 wide with the rubber gromets, so that would leave me a inch and a half to spare with 5 lights. im just ordered my reds, so once those get in i will be able to figure that part out for sure.

and VV blue is alot more visable.

Oh yeah i plan on running that to a seperate switch so i can enable it only in the desert.

Did you make your box yourself? And where do you get those lights from?

Turn signals also must be separated by 24 inches unless on a motorcycle.

    yes!
just welded it up last night, all i need is my lights!
i just ordered red led oval trailer tail lights off Amazon!

    Ohh thank you for that!

so the tail lights i ordered are brake lights, and blinkers. am i allowed to have tail lights and blinkers in the same light?
because if not, then my blinkers would be too close for that rule, but i was also planning on running the blinkers as dust lights in the desert.

Pretty sure you can use the break light/turn signal integrated light. I think that's how the ford trucks are setup. They have no amber colored light for the turn signal, they just blink one of the red lights.
