why cant we delete our own threads?

    One of the things that we try to do at TW is to keep threads open. Not to mention, the TW way of derailing threads. All too often, people get butt hurt because their thread goes in an opposite direction or they get pissed at TW and start to go through and delete their posts. We don't need people going through and deleting threads. What's to stop Pierced Tiger from deleting his Cheap Mod thread? A lot of work was put into that thread and it could be gone too easily.

    I'd much rather get bugged to close/delete a thread than to have rogue threads appearing and disappearing.

    Very true.... I mean Locking threads is basically the same thing.

    Once its locked it goes down into TW darkness Never to be seen again

    The problem with that is that people then can't request updates in that thread.

    The Ultimate Oil Change thread could have been closed because they wanted to keep the clutter out, but there have been 9 pages of comments in there.

    I'm just saying that Bob and us moderators have certain standards that we adhere to. I'd be worried that the regular users might take things in an opposite direction as what we've been trying to maintain.

    I agree, and those don't happen very often. In which case, it is just easier for the mods to close it on request.
