Do you think bare glas would hold up to our weather if there was some time before I got it painted?

They come gelcoated, just like a boat. It will last for at least 30 years with no "finish".

Hi-Lift will sink a bit, but that's why you have the board/Hi-Lift base underneath, which distributes the weight more and prevents sinking. You might want a rope on the board/base to retrieve it. Bill Burke shows an example of how to do this recovery in one of his videos.

Also, good catch whoever said they needed to shorten the line after getting further up. I think they were trying to do that to avoid the deep sand?

Lots of the problem was panicking instead of doing a proper assessment and putting the right plan in action.

If the right plan is casting your truck out to sea, it's always better than having your friend kill himself, too.

If you want additional advice, check out Greenhatter (he's from up here in Washington). He had one type installed and switched to another, I don't know why. Tallon bought his old set and they look fine to me (on Tallon's)

Anyone have a stubby antenna-- preferably from Caven Speed?
Love the looks, although I've heard mixed reviews of it.
Listen to AM/FM probably 5-10% of the time so reception loss isn't that big of a deal but I would REALLY like to keep our 2 emergency AM channels for obvious reasons :)

This is the one I have...

    http://sickspeed.com/pages/5n6slu12X1p25nOC.html

I would post a pic but truck is in the shop...I have height issues so I leave this on when driving around town and don't want to have to take the full size antenna off before pulling in the garage. It works well - I notice no difference between this and stock antenna - although that is for FM...not an AM listener.

So AT&T boned my phone with an upgrade yesterday - SynergyROM is close enough to the stock ROM that it tries to seek out stock updates, then hoses itself with corrupting the bootup.
I think I went through about all the wrong things you could do to get it back up and running, which is funny since I started out with everything I needed downloaded, TWRP installed, root access, and a nandroid backup of my stock ROM.
    Instead, I
    - have to downgrade clockworkmod to match my backup version
    - remove root by accident
    - play around with SuperOneClick, which doesn't work
    - play around with CASUAL, which doesn't work on Windows 8
    - play around with 3 different versions of Odin to find something that loads root
    - get root back
    - dump stock ROM and load Pacman ROM
    - get stupid and wipe the entire memory in an effort to clean things up (whee, I'm back to no booting)
    - wait 1 hour on downloading base ROM before realizing I can simply load a ROM on the SD card sitting next to me
    - load my new ROM and manually restore apps with Titanium

Not saying what time I went to bed!

I'm finally back up and running, this time with Dirty Unicorn. Running on plenty of caffeine today! :pccoffee:

Hmm. I think I'll splurge. Nothing that can't be checked with WSDOT apps & a phone call to my pops to hop on the computer if shit randomly hits the fan on the road

Just get a small portable NOAA weather radio. Coverage pretty much anywhere and we'll let you know if the SHTF.

Mitch, the trailer product fiberglass would be bad ass for your truck! I almost picked up the set from greenhater but some financial BS got me so now I'm going to fix whatever needs fixin on my truck, get a DD and focus on my priorities before I spend mods on my truck. That's my 5 year plan :) I'd love to sit shotgun with someone and be your guys photographer though, especially during the annual TSF run!
